the Dutch invented the term drugs, it comes from “droge vaten” (dry barrels, they were particularly good at making these to keep valuable things such as herbs/chemicals from the Far East safe from weather and intact after a journey on board ship for thousands of km)
I recently saw a film “zeezenders in woelig water” from 1974 about pirate radio stations where they had special barrels what opened up and contained 180mm spools of tape (these had adverts and news broadcasts recorded on them), although the tug only needed to go from Scheveningen to wherever the Mebo II was anchored (halfway between UK and NL) there is some rare weather out there and the tape needed to be kept in good condition.
