Nah have to disagree, in basic terms methylphenidate is a mass reuptake inhibitor, like coke. It’s job is to bind to the receptors so the brain can’t suck out the neurotransmitters that make us feel “FUCKING GOOD MAN”, so our job is to fill the synapse with as many neurotransmitters as possible to get the best high. Ever done coke or methylphenidate at home alone in your bedroom? Fucking shit isn’t it. The coke is still doing its job but you haven’t filled that synapse, thus bars or clubs is where the real coke arsehole comes out.
Now with amphetamine and methamphetamine (big difference between the two so next time your mate says he had this speed that was way stronger than meth, you know he’s having a wank) basically, (it’s actually a complex process) they trick the responders in releasing neurotransmitters which floods the synapse. The main one is dopamine – that rush when you main line or sometimes even smoking is a waterfall of dopamine, however other neurotransmitters are released too, for example if you have a high dose of quality meth, serotonin will be released.
So two complete different actions that deliver the same result at the end…increased levels of the feel good neurotransmitters in the synapse.
A very very basic overview, look more into it and you will soon realise that many systems come into play
