I put up that “cat eats rat” thread only a few hours ago and its already on google :hiding:
I wouldn’t have expected such a mundane thread to get picked up that fast or get such a high google rating (hardly as if the natural behaviour of a common animal species is earth-shattering news…
both a good and a bad thing if you ask me.. shows how careful people must be on a public forum.. (or maybe google/youtube cleverly marketing its “own” content?)

Have Google bots following me within seconds on 4 different forums when I post the radio threads..
Usually just me online at the time,but as soon as I log in there are bots too..
Think they are following me..
I’m getting paranoid now :crazy::crazy:
:laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at:
I can even understand google bots looking for the online radio shows on forums devoted to music, but why pick up so quickly on a “funny animal” thread here of all places?
its not as if this is a nature forum or a pets’ forum. I do wonder if the fact it contained a youtube link had a big bearing on the indexing..
edit: I’ve checked a fair few other threads (without YT links), cleared my cookies in case there was some google indexing cookie on here and these are also getting high ranking..
Were you logged into a google account Alex? If you were and you haven’t disabled the option (can’t remember what it is) it’ll be customising the results you get to what it thinks you like…
Anyway I think listings within hours is just great even though it’s a little un-nerving…
just tried it on another machine at work which has never been on partyvibe and definitely doesn’t have a google account, same result…
For what it’s worth google.com didn’t list the result so highly…
I thought it could be because I do a lot of nature-related searches from work on a static IP (often I see birds/animals on the way into work and want to find out what they are..) tried it at home this morning (on dynamic address) and kitty is still there – he/she must be the most famous cat in Penang by now!
Maybe its because PV is part of google analytics, and relays youtube a lot so its “rewarding” us for buying into their bit of the internet?
I just looked and google has an index of 257,000 URLs for us today…
