There is the bigger problem we do not yet have proportional representation in this country (which Denmark and most other European nations have). but even if we had it, going by the votes of the recent election, the two extreme right wing parties (the UKIP and BNP) would get much more seats than for instance the Greens. with regard to clamping down on nightlife and anti-social behaviour, Labour had a similar pledge in their manifesto and so did the Lib Dems (although not as harsh!). They were listed in a newspaper I got from CAMRA (an organisation for traditional British beer). The right wing parties of course had worse! In fact nearly every party did apart from the Greens.
However what also has happened in recent times in England as I mentioned elsewhere is that the people have been worse behaved in night time than ever before, and the previous Labour Government actually did alllow a lot more night time fun. Fighting, rapes, racist and homophobic murders, (this all in my town!) all because they people cannot handle their drink or drugs. It is much worse than most other European countries (apart from the ones where English tourists are common)
And not everyone what votes Conservative is teetotal – in fact the big breweries (the ones what make crap imitation of your countries lager) often fund the Tories a lot.
CAMRA (who actually were responsible for lobbying politicians for the late licenses) are keeping a close watch on this legislation to ensure venues are not unfairly targeted.
However, the Conservatives are planning to charge extra cost for each late night license over 23:30.

Sectioning people costs a small fourtine, they cant even do it for people who are a major risk to them selves and other people despite what the law says. As they are all about making cuts I dunno I cant see anything like that happening. Unless were talking about people who would have gone to prison and this is some kind of alternative.
it would be more likely to be an alternative to custodial sentences, but bear in mind it is possible (albeit rare nowadays) to go down for posession, and the rest of the public thinks cautions are a “soft touch”. The talk is of “abstinence-based” rehab rather than harm reduction, so what will also happen is “liberal” rehabs get their funding cut!
I’m quite happy about this Con/Lib partnership. I’m glad Labour have gone. I felt had the Libs had teamed up with Labour it would of been an extremely bad move as Labour are all talk and were just desperate to stay in power.
This might sound a bit sad but I gotta say I haven’t been this interested in politics for a long time, Have quite enjoyed these last few days! 😉
And now we have good ole’ prohibitionist Ken Clarke as home secretary. A man who is fully in favour of the future world government. Fucking Tory scumbags they havent changed since the 80’s nor will they ever. Its moronic to think that this coalition government is actually going to improve anyones lives except those right at the very top. I would love to think that proportional representation would help but i think that it would just cause more problems in the actual resolution of issues.
Can anyone think of one example of when the politicians actually solved any problems? This country and indeed this planet are run solely for the benefit of the super rich.
right now i just think britain is in a dark place… and there is nobody to get us out of it.
I meant to say Justice minister not home secretary btw. Same differece really, just another Eton educated arsehole.

Perhaps, we will see. Cant say I would be in favour if it did happen.
I have a thought, This tax deal (no tax on first £10,000 of wages for those that don’t know) coming in for the lower paid from the Tories/Dems, Liberals originally thought of it I might add!
When do we all think it’ll come into effect. I hope it’s soon, I could do with the extra dollar 🙂

Edit – Soz yeah Ken Clarke is Justice minister. Didn’t see your other post. 🙂

budget is in 50 days I think but I also seem to remember someone suggesting a time frame of 3 years…

Well I sincerely hope that suggestion isn’t taken on. The Lib Dems fought quite hard for that deal so hopefully it’ll be implemented soon.
It’ll be an extra 80ish quid for a month. Not too bad eh. 😉
Did nt we just have a fucking budget not too long ago?

bullshit, you are future of uk, and everyone at your age can do it different, look at it as a lesson, you might learn sumtin, sometimes in the darkest of time, creativity explodes cause people do not want to be en slaved by the profit-run and strict public rule in the long run, of an action comes a reaction…its like pendule…goes frome side to side
wise words
but i would rather sit back and play music to the revolution, rather than inspiring the insurrection… i am weary before conflict even began

It’s an emergency budget. Gotta be done really. They gotta try and deal with the mess left by Labour. :crazy_diz
