Read about this in a few tech sites – TBH doesn’t seem unusual by USA standards and genuinely seems to be a one off custom mod by the gun company which for a variety of reasons (including copyright) I very much doubt is going to be produced in quantity and/or sold to teenagers at the local Walmart.
A Glock 17L (which is what it appears to be) is not that cheap to start with. In some European countries they are sold online (after licensing / security checks) for about €700 new, used ones €300-€500 depending on condition) – but custom mods like this are also expensive and labour intensive.
It is silly by European standards (as much as the entire concept of shooting at ducks with a pistol would be) but hardly a global threat.
Whoever made it is likely to be reasonably mature (to remember Duck Hunt in the first place), smarter than the average Texan and (unlike many other US citizens) probably keeps it in a securely locked display case (in case it got nicked) and wouldn’t use it in a real gun battle for fear of getting the paintwork scuffed up (he probably has 30 others anyway)
