People who do mushrooms do other drugs including stimulants that make you want to smoke more so it is totally a mixed bag, and psilocybin therapy is only dimly on the horizon. Smoking is mainly an oral fixation, so mushrooms which break the typical everyday field of perception through ego loss obviously are a good solution, i’d be curious to if there are any long term brain changes that accompany it and would show up on a MRI.
Psychedelic therapy is only just on the horizon because reseach has been banned for over 40 years. It’s damn effective.
They have how the therapy should go worked out, its just not legal, its not like much more research needs to be done/ if any, but hurdles still need to be cleared for it to be available as it should be.
Government and FDA hurdles.
