wicked.. thanks a lot, everyone. it means a lot. i hate to be negative on such a lush, happy thread, but i’ve not really enjoyed my birthday for a few years. i had an alright day, i’ve been suffering from depression and its been getting pretty bad lately, so i wasnt feeling that celebratory. ive been working on a peice about depression for partyvibe, cos i recon there must be a fair few other ravers suffering too. bumped into a nearly long-lost-freind on teh day, tho, so that cheered me up. i was out on the piss, tho, and had a goodun with some close mates. rang paul m, but he wus in spain (oh, my g-freinds phone bill is gonna love it).

really appreciate the sentements tho, its nice to know that people care.

love and respect to the lot of ya. big yourselves up.

Funny you should say that USE i’m currently signed off my work with depression as well.. I have good days and bad days and what i class as yo yo days, i’m up one min down the next…

So i can totally understand where you are coming from, it’s my birthday next week and don’t really feel like celebrating much.. but will try and make an effort this weekend as it’s ma wee sisters birthday…

I think depression is a big problem for people these days from their teens-thirties as there is so much uncertainty in lives over jobs / relationships / futures (especially if you are not in denial about the world events/the environment)

being a raver does create a big emotional rollercoaster where you are having a really pleasurable experience at a party so the boring bits of life midweek can be really bad, particularly if things aren’t going 100% well in
    your life anyway.

life is never easy though – I’ve just had to relocate 100 miles to the other end of the country, say goodbye to all my friends from Reading and miss out on the rave at Bristol I was looking forward to in order to keep myself in steady employment; it also looks that I won’t have the time to go out for a while… but I’m not really bothered as stability in my life is the main thing these days as I’ve already done 16 years of madness, and the offer I had was better than anything else I could get in the Thames Valley

TBH though after childhood/age 21 birthdays aren’t a big deal – I was (jokingly) considering getting a fake ID card where I subtract years from my age rather than add them… (I’m lucky enough though to not actually look anything like my real age!)

It’s worth remembering depression rates are sky high all over western europe at this time every year. It’s the same for everyone which is why I try to take holidays in the sun in February every year..

yea, blatantly, ive been meaning to sort out my passport for ages, i just got round to it. i am skint, but luckily my mum lives in france, so im getting a free trip to sit by a river round hers. i cant beleive im actually looking forward to living at my mums for a two week. i cant wait, after trying to adjust to teh bitchy brighton clubnight scene i could do with less “civilisation” for a bit. and some sun, of course.

the depression is a little worse than your average SAD, but i think most of teh problem would be fixed by getting a decent job and some cash to do what i want to. moneys something i’ve always pretended i didnt need, but right now i think i actually need money to make me happier. which is a really fucked up thought to have, but i guess you have to face up to some shit sometimes.

sorry to hear you arent feeling on top of things at the moment either, acid fairy, i’ll get that bit of writing finished and hopefully we can discuss depression a bit furthur and swap tips. and cheers for the solidarity gl.

Having no funds is the one thing guaranteed to make me miserable as sin. Like you, I find money distasteful in the extreme really and I don’t want megabucks, but not being able to make ends meet or knowing where your next meal is coming from sucks more than anything else I know. I suppose like you say you have to face up to the fact that living in western society, you do kinda need money and if you don’t well things are… uncomforatble. Hang on in there though mate – money is quite a transitory thing. Sometimes you got it, some times you don’t. You’ll come across a got it phase soon enough
