it depends entirely on the bobbys discretion.
A lot of them will often confiscate your drugs or tip them into the gutter and send you on your way (or keep them for “later”, although I think random drug testing might now deter them from doing this!)
if they have been told to meet arrest targets or to prove a point (or if there has been a drugs-related incident such as a “decent young kid” recently overdosing) then you are more likely to get nicked, or if you are a repeat offender/known for other criminal activity.
in many force areas it takes a lot though to even see the inside of Court these days. The usual penalty for a first (or even second) drug offence for a normal young adult with no previous or major convictions is a formal Adult Caution, even for the nastier drugs.
