I’ve put this in here as some festivals dont want too much promo on a site like this –
a few years a go a festival lost its liscence just before its kick off date as it had been associated with sites like this 😥
but just in case anyone is interested – this is meant to be a great little festie

wasn’t that the one Dan was organising? It was a shame but I remember it looking like it had a grime/dubstep/urban/hip hop tinge to it and the feds were paranoid that folk from London and Manchester would arrive and cause beef there.
back then (2005?) it seemed like overblown paranoia – but having seen two venues in my town host such events (both against Police advice) and then get shot up by London crews it doesn’t seem so paranoid after all…
I occasionally lurk on grime/dubstep forums (for comedy value more than anything) and some crews do actively go out to disrupt rivals events and get them “locked off” – its anything from starting fistfights in the dancefloor to deliberately storming the DJ booth and pushing equipment to the ground and dashing the DJ’s vinyl into the crowd to lettting off a CS in the dancefloor
I thought it was “Ali G” style posturing and bullshit but I ckecked independent sources and that has happened – I’ve also seen proof from the Police reports and licensing reports thanks to FOI and also the Home Office anti terrorism magazine -as the CS canister release in Luton got treated as low level terrorism due to the level of casualties (20+ into one Emergency Department all at once)
I think we are doing the right thing though by keeping them on here as TBH there are so few dance events getting licensed now (especially as a backlash to the mid-Noughties culture) that they are going to sell out anyway so don’t need mega publicity anyway, but only for good peopel to know..
Nope – the one I know about being cancelled due to being on here – and it was me that had posted it – so I felt uber crap – but am sure it was just the excuse the locals needed – it was ‘seventh sun’ in glostershire
we’d been to it the year before in 2007 (think that was the only year they had it) and it was only about 500 people – very small, well organised, very much a relaxed, chilled vibe – some dodgey ;P music (in my opinion!) but it didnt seem to be known about by many people and didnt seem to attract that element – it was also in a secret location etc and with minimal security as that was all that was needed
some of the typical brew crew but there was no trouble all weekend

I know that area and some of the crews involved and I doubt this was anything to do with you or your posts.
By 2007 the locals were already fucked off with ketamine kids and their antics (not least because said kids were theirown children) and though they aren’t music experts they know that K is associated with raves, festivals and the music scene – and the nearby forest of dean was already getting rinsed by the ravers.
also one lad from that way my old crew K32 used to work with totally lost it and from the way he behaved towards us he would have also really alarmed his parents and other family (as he was before a really sound chap) and things like that have a big impact..
also the festival/party scene is a much smaller world than people think and everyone involved is closely scrutinised by those in power – more so since the economic depression and the authorities being much wiser to the fact that the music scene is a very good way to launder drugs money.

the organisers emailed Dr B requesting the thread be removed, (some thing like ‘whos going to…’)
as the police and locals had used it against them, as PV had links to the ‘drug’ culture they didnt want
shame as I said it was a lovely little festie with propper ‘free party’ vibe, and folky stuff – art etc too

ah right I think I vaguely remember this – but then again Armada / Dirt and all the lot what hang around with them aren’t exactly angels (and some of them have slagged us off on SJ previously because we are “too clean cut and overmoderated”) – its easy enough for locals to work out what crews are involved in events from checking previous videos etc or the crews own websites, they also have links to fatty what was banged up for drugs and lost his bladder from K..
I still don’t think its your fault one bit and you are totally in the clear – the drugs culture is part of festivals and if locals are complaining its because they must have had issues with festivals in their area, not just the culture of a forum 200 miles away. We do our best to help crews but its up to them to sort out their local PR. TBH If I was a parent of teenage or young adult kids in the Gloucestershire area I’d have concerns over such an event due to the local issues.
Even if I totally disagree with the outcome of a Council decision (such as what happened to the other Alex with philosophers fair) its part of the democratic processs – some of my good friends in eco-groups use lobbying and objecting to the Council to protest against excessive development especially urban sprawl, supermarkets and roads so I feel we can’t complain when other locals use their people power to protest against festivals….
Any one coming to this?
great little festie, cheap, dance tent is wicked, community run in order to save the ex mining village
This is it on the program – you get to see their efforts putting on last years, which unfortunatley made a loss, and unfortunatley this program didnt even mention the dance tent and quality DJs they get – but then I guess they prehaps want it more as a family / community event rather than a mash up which it can end up being anyway ….
