I think its cannabis what shows longest in hair and there is a good chance the cocaine is loong gone.

Personally I wouldn’t apply for that kind of work that demand hair tests, that is a too big of a invasion of my privacy…..
I agree but there is a problem the world over, as the cost of drugs tests has dropped loads. Until recently they weren’t always worth the effort or loss of morale in the company but now they are about €3 per employee.
Trade unions do try to resist this but many have had to make a compromise that they will accept it provided everyone from admin staff to management is tested even if they aren’t doing safety critical stuff. I know the Welsh girl Josie who used to post here had the same problem (she worked in the steelworks but in the office) and a lad who was going to work on racing cars also had to be tested, both ended up giving up partying at least for as long as they had these jobs.
it was once reason why I didn’t join the Coastguard as a control room operator (which I thought about a few years back) as not only was the salary less than working in admin for the environment ministry (which is strange given its a much more critical job) they were much more likely to test you. To be fair I can understand this in England as we often lack self-discipline – you wouldn’t want a VTS operator on acid seeing ships what weren’t even there, and even in environment ministry there was folks injecting at work and throwing the whole used syringe in the loo (big health hazard to the janitor) which is morally wrong as the NHS and even the Police would give you a sharps bin if you inject!
I am lucky that my skills enable me to get jobs where we don’t have to be tested but not everyone is so lucky these days. Consider that even Mr Obama had to apologise for his own drug use to his own supporters or he wouldn’t be president today…
The best thing our American friend could do is try and get this job, save up his dollars and get his whole family the hell out of there to Europe where people are slightly more tolerant…
