Are the Irish now an accepted people in Europe? Do you think we still face discrimination? Is it different than 40 years ago? When did it change?
Why shouldn’t you be accepted?
We get discriminated too,but for other reasons..
We should try and live in the present instead of going 40 years back in time.
Will it change,I think so..
The only reason for it not to change is that people continue bringing the present in to the future..
IMO
i think the irish since the 90’s have made real advances into being a modern and accepted country, they are respected in everything from the beauty of their country to the national teams for example. Although piss taking takes place and jokes are made, this happens to every country. take wales for example.
yeah, ‘cos its 2007 not 1977. long time no bombings, ya see. this sounds really racist and dont worry its not my view – but the IRA were what spawned a lot of the Irish predujice or so me old man said. he despised it, along with all racism that was particularly rife in the 70’s.
Eire was in the EU in the first round. Outside England Eire has been welcomed for decades
sure don,t the amricans just love us (they are always rantin on bout their great gran or somone being irish )
 Reminds me of Family Guy :laugh_at:
my veiws on this is, the Irish were never considered the ‘blacks of Europe’…. the English establishment had to constantly keep a flow of anti-Irish propaganda going to justify what they were doing here…. so the Irish had to be portrayed as either needy savages requiring the helpful civilised hand of the English (ignoring that, prior to the second post-Norman invasions of Ireland, we were one of the most culturally advanced nations in Europe, and many future monarchs of Europe and England were educated here) or as subhumans who had to be controlled or else we would run rampant across the land raping and pillaging (extremely ironic considering the Saxons’ behaviour here)…. this nonsense only caught in England and in the US…. nowhere else…. and it wasnt just the Irish who were subject to this garbage… the simultaneous portrayal of the English working class wasnt much better…..
