unfortunately not as mum and Dad always spoke English at home (they wouldn’t have known each others native languages anyway, plus in the 1970s Britain wasn’t as “politically correct” so if you are Asian but could not speak English at school you would be at a disadvantage. Today Asian kids are encouraged to learn both English and keep their native languages (which makes sense).
TBH if you want stuff like parties and acid etc you are better off either emigrating to a Western nation or even across the borders to TH, MY (yep even there!) or ID, but it can get a bit sketchy with the religious wars in some areas. Although its nothing like European “tolerance” (and this isn’t guaranteed in all nations) I noticed that Malaysia quietly stopped the death penalty for small posession of drugs a few years ago.
Its a big upheaval though to leave your country, and hard to clear somewhere like UK Border Agency rules unless you have a good job. Unfortunately not sure if there are many paying jobs for interior designers outside London and there is intense competition. Round here people do their own interior design (they just follow ideas off the telly)..
