A lot of these blocks can be got round without even using VPNs; although these work with those its a case of whether the VPN providers (who could easily hoard all your traffic) are any more or less trustworthy than the govt and local telecoms companies. Nowadays I can afford legit software (if it needs licensing work will pay for it), music is cheap enough and a lot of things like good video editing / multimedia software are cheaper than you may think if you aren’t seduced by big brands..
