I got told about this dude who lives on some remote island in Scotland,works in maritime operations and spends most of his spare time looking after stray animals, and observing the wildlife. When he was at the age when I was more interested in drugs and hedonism, the RSPB randomly gave him a fertilised goose egg (I assume it was retrieved from an abandoned nest or someone else had one too many) – he managed to hatch it (by using an old fashioned glow lamp to warm it up, he didn’t make a nest and sit on it all day).
The goose lived for over 20 years and used to follow him around like a dog.
