  • so ok i know its nothing compaired to quiting brown or anything else, but i thought it would help me in some strange way,

im 23 (24 this year) and ive been smoking a grand total of 11 years, i was never pushed into smoking its something that i did of my own free will, in the past ive tried everything, patches, gum, a drug called zyban etc etc, each and all of these never worked for me, ive tried doing it of my own free will and that has also never worked. mainly because i think i was young and never cared.

now im abit older, ive set myself a target, ive given myself a reason for not smoking, last year my nan died of lung cancer, and also i want to change myself for someone, (may not be a good reason but it works in my head)

    So

    Day1,

smoked my last ciggy on the way into work this morning, loved every last drag of it, especially knowing it was going to be my last, im now sitting here really needing one, by now ive usually just smoked my 5th of the day, my chest feels tight and everyone is grateing me up the wrong way, every conversation i have seems to turn into a smoking conversation, people in my office have been for ciggys and i can smell it, saying that i can still smell it on my fingers. god i hope it gets easier, cant beleive this is only day 1:crazy:

    Synopsis:

This is the revolutionary international bestseller that will stop you smoking – for good. ‘If you follow my instructions you will be a happy non-smoker for the rest of your life.’ That’s a strong claim from Allen Carr, but as the world’s leading and most successful quit smoking expert, Allen was right to boast! Reading this book is all you need to give up smoking. You can even smoke while you read. There are no scare tactics, you will not gain weight and stopping will not feel like deprivation. If you want to kick the habit then go for it. Allen Carr has helped millions of people become happy non-smokers. His unique method removes your psychological dependence on cigarettes and literally sets you free. Accept no substitute. Five million people can’t be wrong.

Excerpted from Allen Carr’s Easy Way to Stop Smoking (Penguin Health Care and Fitness) by Allen Carr. Copyright © 1999. Reprinted by permission. All rights reserved.

The object of this book is to get you into the frame of mind in which, instead of the normal method of stopping whereby you start off with the feeling that you are climbing Mount Everest and spend the next few weeks craving a cigarette and envying other smokers, you start right away with a feeling of elation, as if you had been cured of a terrible disease.”

    Good luck.

Ps: i just re-read the synopsis and realised the book sounded like one of those bullshit self help books for middle aged people. It isnt tho and it only cost £4, less than a pack of 20. Its an interesting read as well.

Did that book actually help you stop smoking Process? 😉

No i just bought a job lot off of ebay and im trying to shift them through amazon!

(Yeah it did work for me). 😉

Sweet mate i might give it a go!

I quit last week.. haven’t had a fag since the 13th January and I’ve managed it cold turkey…

Did get the inhaler things as last time the patches gave me too much nicotine in one go.. but not even needed them..

I’ve noticed the change in smell and taste.. stuff tastes different to the way it used to lol..

Think previously i never managed to quit coz i never really really wanted to.. this time i am determined..

@ Netrix… i find that when you’re gonna quit its easier to have your last smoke the night before and not to have one in the morning.. doing that makes your body want more nicotine during the day whereas when you first wake up there isn’t much nicotine in your system anyway 🙂

Sorry mate but thats crap. The smoking addiction exists mostly in your head the actual physical addiction is hardly anything esp compared to heroin addiction. Most smokers can go at least 10/15 hrs without a smoke during the night, some dont even have there first smoke till after breakfast or lunch. Dont think u can say the same for people on brown…

No offence meant, its just that thinking like that is what stops a lot of people even trying to give up.

yeah if you drink like 2 ltr of wisky a day it’s pritty certain you will die of a heart attack if you go could turky … if you drink less the risk is less but you are still under risk

(i use 2 leaters of wisky as an example cos that was the amount used in the example i first heard about this)

I’m gonna try and give up smoking starting tomorrow. I’m gonna chew gum whenever i need a fag and see if that works. Wish me luck il keep you all posted:love:

good luck bro .. hope it works out 😉

    Cheers mate 😉
