the first few i made were really good… no cloudyness, nice dry flavour with a hint of raisins to take the edge of the dryness… good and fizzy

since then they been a bit cloudy and pretty flat, but taste quite good… i think maybe i need to really sterilise the barrel… i’ve been getting ‘wild fermentation’ which should only happen with rotting apples, where there’s extra yeast from the rotting fruit

the company i used to buy from (CWE) went bust last year, so i use youngs now, except on the odd ocassion I can buy a syrup from a local farm

main thing is not to drink it too soon…they say two weeks after the secondary fermentation is enough, but I think minimum 6 weeks to mature a little bit and get a beeter flavour. also, don’t try to make it too strong as it will just taste like gak and make your poo runny :devilish:

Well, i think i will try, my old man can help me. All he ever used to do was homebrew, Think he came up with the strangest combinations like ruhbarb wine or something. Cheers though i may give cider a try, lager was always good but it often was not fizzy enough, i thought about priming the barrel with sugar during the second fermentation or even fermenting in bottles primed with sugar, but i didnt want to over do it. As for drinking to soon, i had a tub of syrup that was bout 7 years out of date, tasted like shite but i still lived:horay:

I’m really suprised at how many of you don’t drink. Although I never used to mix drink and @rugs in my early raving days (I’m going back about 16 years now mind you!) I and most of my peers are more than happy to do so now.

I do take a lot less @rugs than I used though and maybe this has something to do with it.

Having said that, my drinking frequency and amount consumed has probably at the very least halved since I passed my driving test.

not a big fan of drinking , tho you cant do lines of ketamin sat on the village green with a bbq on a hot summers day. if it was illegal (which it should be ) then i probs wouldnt touch the stuff.

i hav a drink every day, think i am startin to have a bit of drink problem. Gonna deffo hav to sort it out i am spendin most of my wages on it.

i drink 3 or 4 days of the week but only a couple of pints and a game of pool u know… i rarely drink to get drunk anymore since new years cuz i went a bit mad and threw a glass at someone… decided its not good for my mental. i drink now purely for the social aspect. it seems that since i found ketamine and MaDMAn drinking dosnt appeal to me as much… just makes u bloated grow a huge gut and feel like death the next morning… i mean i know some drugs have the hangover effect but at least it dosnt have the gut… plus a much better high lol..

I tend to have a couple of glasses of wine every day but that comes from having lived on the continent ie France for a quite a while where it is normal to do this..

Having said that i don’t usually drink that much as i am always the one that drives everywhere so i don’t drink when i’m out.. but if i do when i don’t have the car then I tend to end up plastered..

I hate being drunk though as i hate not being in control of myself and the god awful inevitable blanks that u have the nexy day..

Like Acidfairy I tend to have wine everyday ( usually with meals ).

However – if I’m driving ie going to free parties I don’t drink. I don’t want to risk losing my licence.

i never drink to get drunk but now and again i have a wee glass of either mead, JD, irish balies, or port :crazy:

ide say about once a month ok mabye twice a month i have a glass.

grew up in [ubs and resturants so saw people getting drunk all the time just cause they could,, sort of turnd me off drinking on mass for life..:you_crazy

this is now my 6th week without drinking durin the week.

I class 5.30 friday as the weekend. So can drink from then on, but since i always hav other work to do when getttin home from my day job i norm start drinkin around 9pm.
