  • Nah he wouldn’t have been hurt by the actual fall I don’t think as it fell away from the mosh (he would have landed on top not underneath).

However, what the other people would have done to him..

Exactly. At least in a modern townie nightclub, when people kick off usually SIA approved guards separate them before too much damage is done, and rather than act the hero (unless they are genuinely being attacked) they tend to genuinely use minimum force, detain and handover both combatants to the Police. Also its relatively hard to get a knife or other weapon into a legal venue these days, whereas many folk attending unlicensed events keep all sorts of weapons in their cars, for instance how many folk do we (or did we know) what have a baseball or cricket bat yet aren’t exactly “sportsmen?”

although violence at these events is comparatively rare, when it does happen it tends to be swift and brutal and usually some shocked girl (quite righltly) calls from an Ambulance. which (as the crews are told to beware of their safety) usually arrives along with the Police…..

To be fair – the guy on the rig didn’t cause it to fall over – the rushing forward moshing crowd caused the set to topple. OK – it wouldn’t have helped having him up there…

The only time anyone climbs on my rig, is when I do it – to take photos, hype the crowd, or just enjoy the view! but strictly no punters. I have to say that in the early 90’s I was a bad man for rig climbing, in fact I even fell asleep on top of the bins at a bedlam gig in 92ish times – only to be woken by my buddies shoving poppers up me nose!!

Don’t do it kids (rig climnbing/rig sleeping or poppers!)

fucking rig monkeys. I like perforated sounds motto “Climb on our rig and we’ll climb on your mum!”

There’s no need for it and i agree with log, it’s just stupid attention seeking morons

I love a good pop on some poppers.

I climb ontop of the rig then start doing the worm on it and hip thrusting at the crowd, come at me bro!

I crawled halfway in a bass bin once to get out of the rain (when pretty mashed on ket) and fell asleep in their for an hour or so lol. They were turned on and playing rather loudly, fuck knows how i managed to fall asleep, even on k! Was probably up for several days by this point mind you, I can fall asleep standing up if I’m not moving and have skipped several nights sleep lol.

I saw (and heard) tunnel crews’s rig get moshed over in 2004 (might have this on video if the DV tapes will still read and I can get any kit still working to process them). I was filming them from a walkway above and the rig went over with such a noise I ran down the stairs as I thought the power had blown out as that was a sketchy circuit with a earth fault (madcake thought I had got sparked when I first tried to energise one of the phases earlier in the night to get them power as
there was a spark and I literally pulled out the porcelain fuselink, jumped back and it dropped on the floor, this was proper Dr Frankenstein kit)

when I got down the steps then I realised the power was still on and the moosers had accidentally sent the rig over..

if I owned a rig I would think this is when it is unfair that tasers and other stun guns are highly illegal in our country.

GL i’ve played at Tunnel Crew nights that they do in a pub in Wycombe and they still have rig monkey’s climbing the speakers in there… i’ve lost count of the times i’ve told people to get off and they’re like… WHY???? if i wasn’t so concerned about the speakers i’d let the little fukers get squashed…. they all swing from the stack when the technos on and you can see the speakers moving… lol

I can’t stand the attention seeking plebs. People only do it for one reason and that is to be seen by other people. Fair enough you can jump up to take a pic but only if it is your rig. As I said earlier another thing that really pissed me off is people using the enclosures to hold their can of bear or other belongings.

My mate had 4 of these and the folded horns were under constant abuse form people putting drinks of bags or keys in them. It’s like WTF for one thing they are effecting the sound wave by blocking it (which is one of the most biggest destructive forces against sound) and also it can damage it. People really have no idea.

thing is if someone does get squashed I bet their parents will be straight on to both TVP and worse their lawyers as well trying to launch a civil case against both the pub and the event promoters…

putting the bear in a can is bad enough, but forcing it into a bass enclosure with loud sound is illegal across Europe. (some farmer actually got nicked by his countries environment ministry for playing Balkan gypsy techno at bears because they were stealing his watermelons).

Yep even though it was their munkey kid that caused their own injury… x

What a tune for it to fall over too aswell. Mixing sounded siick.. though it does seems like the rushing of people was the problem.

I was never fond of the rig monkeh anyway. Pure attention seeking fo’ shizzle.

the last few EA events I went to had the rigs propped up at the back by all manner of heavy items.

At least the rigs didn’t go over, but it meant the moosers climbed to the roofs of barns, haystacks etc and fell off those instead, usually requiring a fair few of the NHS’s finest to haul their broken bodies back to the nearest Emergency Department. When they started getting as many bodies in as the townie clubs in rural pisshead areas (and also having to deploy out to the middle of fucking nowhere at weekends when Eastamb is already being judged harshly for missing response times) the ambulance service basically said to the cops “why can’t you close down these dangerous events?”

I fucking hate attention seeking people who want to climb on top of speaker cabs. What I find more insulting is when people put there beer cans inside the folded horn enclosure and shit. Fucking nobs
