  • So looks like I officially converted to Spiritual Humanism the other day, I can legally do a bunch of ceremonies including funerals, weddings and baptisms in the US of A.
Unfortunately Canada and England haven’t come around to our point of view so I cant do that here yet. What a shame.

    Hindus have baptisms?

Also I didn’t even know that there was a legal requirement to be an ‘official’ member of any clergy to do weddings and funerals. AFAIK anyone can do a ‘wedding’, you just need an official to do the signing of the paperwork to be married by law.

It’s not Hinduism, It’s humanism, it’s a religion oriented around reason and Scientific Method.
You need the right “qualifications” to perform the actual ceremonies, not the legal stuff.

oh right, i do know humanism I just read it wrong

Ceremonies are defined by the religion. I.e. you’d need catholic approval/qualifications to perform a catholic wedding/funeral and so on, but I could perform and Iacchusian wedding/funeral without any official qualifications

Several of my extended family got married by other family members in the people’s back gardens for example because they follow their own branch of christianity. same goes for funerals you can bury someone in your back yard with whatever pomp and ceremony you choose by whoever you like as long as they are buried 6 feet under.

So presumably you’re qualified to do humanist weddings/funerals.. do humanists have baptisms?

Well according to the website, I’m approved to do any funerls/weddings and such regardless of religion. I’m not sure though, I’m no lawyer/priest.

    Can you do excorsisms?
