  • The battery went on my motherboard so the PC was running a lot slower than it should have been, I got a battery out of a spare motherboard that I had laying about and stuck it in.

Well when I set the clock speed, memory speed etc I think I stuck in the wrong settings (was a bit late at night). Well when I saved and exited the BIOS settings then reset the PC it doesn’t actually start anymore 🙁 It powers on, the hard drive spins up but nothing appears on the screen and it will not boot up (doesn’t even show the first screen where you can enter the BIOS).

Does anyone with a bit of knowledge know how I can get it to let me into the BIOS again to reset it all (as I now know the correct settings). I really hope its not dead

There should be a jumper near the battery, There is usually three pins so if you move the jumper across the other two pins this should clear the cmos.

It sounds like you have incorrectly set the bios

These days if you apply the optimize bios settings that is usually all you need to do.

If you can’t find the jumper take the battery out leave if for a minute then try again.

    Hope this helps

It doesn’t sound like it is dead just slightly confused:crazy:

Ah cool thanks, i will try that when i get home then 😉

Need to get it running before i work out how to transfer my files from a different PC to this one, now that is my next challenge :hopeless:

One comment about the jumper you must replace it to the original position afterwards.

So you mean move it over then straight back?

Move it over leave for a few seconds then back to original position

Sweet will see how it goes.

Yeah that solved the problem :bounce_fl

Ah nice to be on a fresh PC, just having to install all me programs now :crazy_diz
