Neither do I, I like to see religious people squirm and repeat the same tired old mantras.. but that’s not the reason I ask, I ask because when there’s an original answer it makes the whole topic more interesting
satan isn’t a joke like that.
satan is decieving…he doesnt care about u or nun…he just wants u to think hell be there and give u a good time…like drugs for instance…
drugs give u a temporary high…like satan…and then everything comes crashing down on u…
if u die and go 2 hell…theres no coming back…u have ur choice to go to heaven or hell now. people say u get to heaven thru good deeds this and that…bogus as hell…its cleary states in the bible that u must ask god to come into ur heart and u shall be saved. u have to truly believe in ur heart that jesus christ is ur savior and that hes real.
and about hell…people say…well ill be with my friends…
u wont see ur friends because ull be in total darkness…all u hear is screaming…and ull be burning for eternity…eternity is forever
and all the while ull be begging, wishing for ONE DROP of water on ur tongue. and u wont get shit.
satan is a liar.
and squirm r u kidding? it aint even like that. thats just a christians duty…to spread the gospel uk.
and maybe the reason u dont believe in heaven or hell is because u dont know shit about god…because u never gave it a chance…
or because uk its easier to say u dont believe so u can do wat u want
im saved and im a christian and i wana party and do w/e the fuck i want. but thats normal…were human…we all have temptations and we all wanna do wrong.
and u know how i know god is real…because hes in my soul…wen i do wrong he convicts me
idk i aint sitting here tryin to persuade u to believe in something u dont…but i am answerin ur questions n lettin u know a different aspect.
ya diggg
Ok fine..
Say Hell exists, and the bible is correct about all the bad things that’ll happen to you down there..
People have endured far less then what “Hell” is meant to bring down onto you and go completely insane, when you’re at that stage you don’t know who you are, where you are and what is happening around you.
You’re effectively a vegetable, and thus the person who you are now won’t give a shit.
So fuck it.
And so help the next person who comes out with some crap like: The Devil will keep you sane so you’ll have no choice but to endure it forever.
The whole basis of religion was to subdue the population and/or to try and rationalise all the atrocities around us and to understand the universe.
It’s far easier to say “Some dude made it”.
I HATE religion with a vengeance, all the needless deaths in wars for as long as religion has been around where each side say they’re supported by some mythical figure up high in the clouds.
Jerusalem is a prime, infact one of the best, examples of countless wars for something so absurd.
With a wave of the wrinkley “holier than thou hand” of the Pope, thousands upon thousands baa’d their way to a city in the Middle East to kill and die for “God”.
I sold my soul for a bag of wooden nickels and a rubber chicken.
I tried to do the same, but apparently I’m renting it.
Hey, I hear ya ‘breezy’ raaa I am trying……. 😉
But I DO have a sense of humor too! I am NOT some prissy old lady waving a wrinkly old finger warning everyone they are doomed to hell. Hey, I believe in heaven and hell, but I will not be able to describe what is on the other side until I go there! Personally, I think hell is different for everyone – not only are you without any hope bc you are forever sep. from God, but you also have to deal with crushing guilt and whatever is torture to YOU. For instance, lots of spiders and forever feeling like I had to puke but couldn’t……THATS HELL! :hopeless:
And you hit the nail on the head O-D……what you described IS religion! That is NOT what I’m into at ALL! The Pope is a MAN. We are NOT supposed to kill each other for God! Those are man’s concoctions……
sorry to go slightly off the subject O-D, especially after my ‘woo, go Ellie’ (which i liked very much thank you :bounce_fl)
…
i think its really unfair for me to have to go to hell. God himself can surely see that the bible is full of contradictions and could really do with an update. He hasnt shown me anything to convince me otherwise whatsoever! :hopeless:
I think one of my defining athiest moments was walking into a church and reading the ten commandments. it just seemed like an exteremely convenient ‘lets control the masses’ list.
I think if a heaven does exist maybe it’s just us living out our good memories over and over again.
Too far fetched?
The Law is there to show us that we CAN’T get it right, and we need a Savior. And what are the contradictions you speak of????
Like how Jesus’ life is a plagarisation of religions that predate Christianity?
Or how, similarly, words in the bible to describe the “Son of God” have been used many times in religions that, again predate Christianity, have been used to describe someone such as Jesus within their reglious context? Words such as “God’s Annointed Son”, “The Good Shepherd”, “The Lamb of God” and others.
A good example would be “Horus the Sun God” of the Egyptians of around 3000BC.
Here’s a few more from different religions in different periods that were before Christianity existed:
Attis, of Phyrigia, born of the virgin Nana on December 25th, crucified, placed in a tomb and after 3 days, was resurrected.
Krishna, of India, born of the virgin Devaki with a star in the east signaling his coming, performed miracles with his disciples, and upon his death was resurrected.
Dionysus of Greece, born of a virgin on December 25th, was a traveling teacher who performed miracles such as turning water into wine, he was referred to as the “King of Kings,” “God’s Only Begotten Son,” “The Alpha and Omega,” and many others, and upon his death, he was resurrected.
Mithra, of Persia, born of a virgin on December 25th, he had 12 disciples and performed miracles, and upon his death was buried for 3 days and thus resurrected, he was also referred to as “The Truth,” “The Light,” and many others.
…any thoughts?
when i say contradictions i guess i mean more that the bible is so open to interpretation. Ive read articles, esp about homophobia, which uses different passages to both accept and denounce homosexuality.
Many christians shun the OT’s shocking views and concentrate on the new testament…but the OT is there in the bible…surely you cant pick and choose.
I dont get your point about “The Law is there to show us that we CAN’T get it right”. What is that in response to?
first off, anyone who tries to make it look as though the Bible ENDORSES homosexuality is just plain WRONG!!!!!!!
Yes the OT is part of the Bible…you can’t pick and choose….the NT does NOT REPLACE the OT, it FULFILLS it. The Law=OT….its purpose is to show that we NEED A SAVIOR.
as far as those pagan examples go…..did any of those die for humanity to bring us closer to God???? Where is the evidence – eyewitness accounts – of people who saw the risen ‘gods’?
Paganism rules!
