I’d use that layout you (USE) designed – it seems good from both an aesthetic and engineering /technical POV.. as it could be scaled up or down as required, and metal or plastic tubes are easy things to have made in quantity..
how many arenas? well depends on the space TBH – but probably about 2 large arenas, 1 smaller one plus plenty of side stalls.
which acts? they would all be local ones and free party crews. No big names whatsoever (OK maybe if they had local connections and only if they were prepared to work for a fee appropriate to the festivals finances which would be the same for all acts (saves the headaches working out the accounts afterwards as well!)
extras? all power to be supplied from as eco-friendly sources as possible.
a vehicle supplying power and comms infrastructure (including net streaming) for the entire festival – ( a friend of mine is designing one at the moment!) which would also have a point whereby people could e-mail or text their friends worldwide for a lower cost than the corporate mobile networks (which usually get overloaded at festies anyway!)
missing from current festivals?the whole fucking ethos of why they happpened in the first place. The Glastonbury débacle seems particularly bad this year – photo id cards and tracking, the organisation has provided a test-bed for the cops and authorities to test ID cards and doesn’t seem to care – IMO Mr Eavis should spend his retirement years back with his moo-cows!
and I’d far rather have a smaller event with minimal ticket conditions and prices (if any) and attracts a friendly crowd than a large one which gets infiltrated by bad elements (I have some particularly chilling anecdotes about organised attempts to disrupt festivals, which have been confirmed from authentic sources)
favourite one – well for the same reasons as DJ Fattmann I do not normally attend them; but I think Ambient picnic would be my choice..
