using the word cult about scientology is now a public order offence
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2008/may/20/1
free speech or fuck off, basically
Crazy mate!! :you_crazy Fucking Scientology!! I wonder if they’ll serve me if i call them a bunch of stupid pig fuckers?? :weee:
was in london that day and saw the protesters on tottenham court rd. protesting. loads of people in suits and weird masks with placards and stuff . fair play, scientology does seem pretty wrong. in fact the words sinister and cult seem to describe it perfectly.
good luck to the old boy, hopefully common sense will prevail and the idea of charging that kid will be laughed at by the judge. :you_crazy
arnt there better things for the police / criminal ‘justice’ guys to be doing? :hopeless:
This is just ridiculous. Much worse things have been said about much more respectable organisations. Poor kid!
Considering the Oxford English dictionary definition of cult is this:
1 a system of religious worship directed towards a particular figure or object.
2 a small religious group regarded as strange or as imposing excessive control over members.
3 something popular or fashionable among a particular section of society
It seems pretty accurate to be honest. It’s a gross miscarriage of justice.
Maybe I shouldn’t be saying this. They will have people looking at this page right now I should imagine. I’ll be up in court tomorrow.
/me passes Bio-Tech a Summons which just arrived in the Partyvibe mailbox.
:laugh_at:
No but seriously, a Sec 5 for that? I mean, I’ve seen more people get away with more stuff than a lousy exchange of quotes and a sign.
Where the hell are we supposed to protest or how? I could understand if it was offensive, but at least it didn’t say something like, “Fuck off home Bible Bashers” – then yes a Sec 5 would be used.
Do they want some extremist action next becuase of the anger they have caused by taking such action?
I’m sure the kiddy will get let off scott free, judging by the quotes so far it doesn’t seem that bad and I would take the lot to trial and plead not Guilty and let the jury decide.
I guess that the thousands of pounds some officers allegedly recieved from the members of this organisation had no bearing at all on the matter eh?:you_crazy
“The City of London police came under fire two years ago when it emerged that more than 20 officers, ranging from constable to chief superintendent, had accepted gifts worth thousands of pounds from the Church of Scientology.
The City of London Chief Superintendent, Kevin Hurley, praised Scientology for “raising the spiritual wealth of society” during the opening
of its headquarters in 2006.”
WTF?!
wealth being the operative word – its a cult based on money and power by greed driven men
things in this country and this world seem to be going downhill extremely rapidly, where is our freedom of speech?
as we get closer to 2012 the human rase is becoming more absurd and disgraceful
Its political correctness gone mad.
not quite. it’s political oppression.
UK is hard on the heels of USA in terms of closing down a free society and installing a dictatorship.
as I said on SJ, the last time this country actually kicked off about anything, it was money, after the poll tax was introduced and at that time the people won over the govt through mass civil disobedience.
is money the only thing we are prepared to stand up for? when our rights and basic freedoms have been taken away, we all seem so fucking dull in the head about it.
why are people not rioting?
because they’re too busy reading heat magazine and making false idols
some are, but there are so many people & groups who are being silenced… where’s the unity?
dont know, apathy maybe?
