  • Two of the men were found with slender lorises concealed in pouches in their briefs, a customs official at Indira Ghandi International Airport told the BBC.
The men were transit passengers, en route to Dubai from Bangkok.
The animals were uncovered when security guards noticed a bulge in their underwear during a frisk.

Even a slender loris is about the size of a Norway rat.

Slender loris – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Arabs trying to stuff them into their pants (for whatever reasons) are bound to be viewed with suspicion and outrage (its against all sorts of laws)

BBC News – Men arrested hiding loris in underwear at Delhi airport

Unless its a related species I believe they’re called slow loris not slendor loris

I’m not sure myself if the ones on the Indian customs picture are the same as the description or a different type. all of them are CITES protected anyway so them arabs are bang to rights no matter which subspecies they have tried to bring in…

Maybe a different species actually cos the wiki link you offered doesnt mention them being venomous. The only venomous primate I think and a single scratch, as the venom is located in glands on their wrists, can cause excrutiating pain and death if left untreated. And if there’s one area of my body more than any other I dont want necrosis its down my pants

there were two loris smuggled – and some confusion over the exact species found, apparenly 1 x slender loris and 1 x slow loris (bear in mind this report is being translated from native languages into English via the Press Office).

if they are at the vet and not in the best shape the Indian public authorities (who are surprisingly right on for a developing nation when it comes to animal rights, might be something to do with Mohandas Ghandi encouraging this) are more likely to send out a stock photo of whatever loris they can find rather than the actual creature…
