good day everyone, (but a rainy one), right ive heard off ppl that glade is shutting down due to rain, is this true, its typing it down out there!
not seen any official mention of this (would expect the BBC or Thames Valley Police press office to give the announcement, as if it were the case it would mean they have to deal with a lot of excess traffic and potential public order situations as if people had paid £150 or so for something that isn’t gonna happen some might be getting a bit angry..
it might be possible that RBFRS (Royal Berks Fire and Rescue) would attend with pumps to try and remove any excess water from the site…
I will keep looking for any updates…
i rang up g tickets and they said they are letting no one in untill the rain stops, and there is no music, so i guess thats whats happening
FFS someone ought to tell the BBC or put that on an official website somewhere as it might help to ease the traffic pressures – apparently the lower lying parts of Berkshire are under water (Maidenhead/Windsor and some parts of West Berkshire), the Fire Brigade are now at Major Incident status, so I can understand if the event has been closed on H&S grounds..
but without announcing this then loads of people, many unfamiliar with the region are going to be driving to an area of SE England that is currently flooded, where they will promptly encounter serious traffic congestion and Police containments.
If the Glade management don’t handle this incident properly, TVP Roads Policing Unit will do it for them and it won’t look good for next years license. After all its not as if they were all unaware of the ropey weather this season..
to true man, they seemed very busy and not like they wanted to speak to me TBH im just not sure what to do, im at home with my ticket, things dont look good, im at a bit of a lost, some girl told me not to go as it was to bad, im just not sure what to do
apprantly the rain is really bad..on the motorway they are doing 35 mph
Apparently the site is flooded they are hoping to reopen tomorrow..
Although the glade site says that Despite mother nature… The festival is going ahead. There is flooding in the local area so please be careful and patient on the way here.
Mind you having read these i’m not so sure http://www.gladtalk.co.uk/forum/possibly-cancelled-vt4125.html

to further exacerbate matters it appears that TVP and the other blue light services have also concentrated their resources on the (admittedly much more severe) flooding in the Eastern part of Berkshire (Windsor and Maidenhead area) – with people being flooded out of their homes in some areas I expect dealing with this would clearly take priority over a music festival
in this situation I expect the cops would roadblock Glade just like an illegal rave and turn people back to limit the numbers attending for safety!
This also means traffic on the M4, A4 and all associated roads are gonna be atrocious..
I looked on the news earlier today and the road where I used to cycle to my friends house in Maidenhead was totally under water – I am so glad I am not in my old area today!
Check out this video of the area… mental.. click on view video when the page loads up http://www.newburytoday.co.uk/News/Article.aspx?articleID=4758

serious shit …is this what we have to put up with now has the weather system messed right up …
Wow…Crazy weather….
What were they thinking, building a town in the middle of that river.
On a serious note…. that’s bloody mental! What a nightmare to have to deal with if you live in the area. I wouldn’t be as happy as some of the people in that garage when I’m wading about in contaminated water.
ive never known newbury this badly flooded sinse ive lived here, someone i know said it took them nearly 5 hours to get from reading to here today, when it should take no more than 25mins usually….
spoke to my friend who turned up to glade yesterday, says the overkill stage is still shut, they had problems with the computer system for registering people or something and theres inches and inches of mud, but theyre still having fun and just hoping for the sun to dry it all out…. im off to italy tomoro, think ive got the right idea getting out of the country!
