God damn the weather! drove back from northamptonshire earlier toady and had to pull over a couple of times, I’ve never seen anything like it! I was almost crying at some points, i felt so helpless.
Hope glade still goes ahead and evryone manages to have an ace time!:bounce_fl
Spoke to someone earlier who was there, mud is so deep and thick it’s pouring over the wellies, must be some bloody mud. Everyone still appears to be having fun tho.
ive just come back for a few hours, my car broke down, towed it all the way back, nightmare!. mud is thick and deep, everyone is sooooooo nice there, gonna try and get back in for tonight, havent seen anythink i wanted to, but really have just given up but am enjoying myself!, just glad to get the car back home
Just got back from a wickid weekend, we got there fri nite wen it was all flooded n they were still keepin it open they just used an overflow carpark nd closed the main 1. The mud was nearly up 2 my knees in some places n by the time we got out i was literally covered from head to toe! Leaving the car park was a nightmare, most of the cars were stuck in the mud there all day n had to pay £20 to the local farmers to tow em out with a couple of tractors
Still everyone really seemed enjoyed to enjoy the festival, n i had plenty of jokes all weekend!
Just got back from the Glade – absolutely wicked time despite the weather…:bounce_fl:bounce_fl:bounce_fl
We got there thursday evening, when all looked well (and sunny).. Then woke up on friday to find a river running through the middle of the tent (didn’t get the bits we were sleeping in tho’….:love::love:)
Music didn’t get going til later friday afternoon – the Overkill stage had a river running through it, and the genny’s were under about 3 feet of water for most of the afternoon, and the other stages weren’t much better. Respect to the organisers for living up to the golden rule of entertainment though – the show did indeed go on, and we got to dance lots (in knee deep mud, admittedly). Fantastic music from the point it got kicked off (and some superbly designed rigs – very loud, and crystal clear for the most part), and lovely people (remarkably few grumpies considering the adverse conditions too – most people seemed to have a well developed sense of humour, and saw the funny side of it all…:weee:) Don’t envy the clean up job – lots of people left swamped tents behind (although the site seemed cleaner than I expected for that many people)….
All my clothing may be covered in mud, and the 400 mile drive on sunday night was a little sore, but I’ll be going back next year for sure (even if it rains like that again)…raaaraaaraaa Got my Swamp Thing certificate now too…:laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at::weee::weee::weee:
And we only got tapped a fiver for help from the local farmer and his tractor (not sure why you paid £20 – they had the charge written on a sign in the windows of all the tractors)… Pretty fair really, considering the alternative…:hopeless:
Some photos for you. Not many as I only sneaked in for Sunday afternoon. Was a good laugh but its killed my legs.
we didnt pay anything coz eventually we managed to push our car all the way across the car park, but nearly everyone we spoke 2 this mornin was sayin they were charging a fiver but then upped it to £20 coz so many ppl needed towing, n sum were paying 40 to jump the que! – tight as fuck i think
Glad you all had a gud oneraaa .,.. looked like fun …:bounce_fl
Thats nothing. I heard on the psy-forum that some people were getting charged up to £150 depending on vehicle size. I feel sorry for people with big campervans and mini busses.
eesh. money to be made and someone’s gonna make it
a mate has a wrecked old truck and is a member of 2 rescue companies. one to tow him where he wants to go and one to take him home. i think that ingenious idea works out fairly cost effective if you travel around a lot in a year in a bus. especially with towing costs like the above
my mate tried to leave friday . got stranded when the river burst its banks down the lane . you can see his car in the dreadzone vid
let me clarify, that was to ppl who parked in the no tow zone down the “main road”, they have to pay out 150 quid to get there car towed, this was not in the car park
Well this is what I saw written on the psy-forum. Go ask on there if you like. I know they were charging a fiver when I was on my way in on sunday afternoon as I was watching them towing. My housemate told me the next day they tried charging her £40 to get her car towed out and other people were giving more money to the tractor drivers to get up the queue as some people were waiting hours.
I do see being £150 was a bit high, but if someone had a minibus to be pulled out they may have charged considerably more than a small car like my housemates.
I didnt see any cars getting towed from the no parking areas and I was quite surprised to see soooo many parked all the way round the road on both sides, which could have caused a hazzard especially to me as I walked from the gravel car park which was a 15 min walk away. I think they prolly didnt bother towing cars away as they couldnt go back into the car park.
