some of the line-up looks pretty good – minus stage on the friday, but from a brief search on here the name ‘global gathering’ just seems to be placed next to the word ‘shite’ … is it any good?
i wouldnt bother tbh. plenty of other festivals to go to which are so much better and for the same price or cheaper. gotta be glade or shambala or offworld… depends what you like tho i guess..
i have a few friends who have gone, they say it’s alright but really mainstream and the security getting in is ridiculously tight…
Seriously commercial with a high proportion of twats attending. I, personally, wouldn’t bother.
the lineup looks good but you can watch em on tv… id rather see smaller djs and that drop heavy tunes… because more people are there for the music rather than to showcase their new “I <3 Tiesto" tshirt..
I went a couple of years ago, had a good time. It is what it is, a big commercial festival.
Never had any bother with security or anything. theres always a good line up plus prodigy are headlining this year.
although i don’t think i’d camp there, looking at the website you can’t take your own booze in, you have to buy it there for £40 a crate then your not allowed to take it off the campsite into the festival:you_crazy
I don’t care how fucking good the lineup is, with these sorts of things you might as well go and take £30 or more out of your wallet, go to your nearest police station and say “here officer, some more money for surveillance and catching druggies” which is exactly what these festivals are used for now – test beds for greater surveillance and enforcement of prohibition..
Don’t know about global, heading to Creamfields this Aug. Should be good! raaa
Whoop whoop:bounce_g::bounce_fl:bounce_g::bounce_fl!!
I usually go to Creamfields but I could not make it this year so I opted for Global Gathering as it is the other EDM festival in the UK. I had expectations but I was very disappointed, the layout of the arena and camp sites were horrendous, we had to walk for miles from the campsite to get to the main arena. The security was also poor, on arrival, no ID was checked which I would have assumed and their was no bag checking. The venue seemed to be full of an excessive amount of druggies and kids blatantly under the age of 18. On the campsite, tents were getting broken into and their was a lack of security performed by the onsite staff. I also somehow managed to get spiked with a high dose of MDMA which resulted in me being in the medic hut all of Saturday evening/night so I missed the majority of the weekend (this backs up the fact that the security is poor and the arrival checks on bags was not carried out properly). I know drugs are about at every festival, it is inevitable, however many on the campsite were dealing things such as MD, MKat and Crack. It wasn’t organised well at all, the house stage was TINY which is completely ridiculous. Very very disappointed, I will never make the mistake of going again and I will be returning to my usual summer festival which is Creamfields!! You will not be disappointed there, the atmosphere is alive and buzzing unlike GG, the security is great and it is well planned. Definitely recommend you all Creamfields and not GG if you are looking to attend a dance musical festival next summer! 🙂
TBH I wouldn’t go to any of these large events in England but I now live on the North Sea coast so Holland is easy to get to and the DJ’s and producers I like most are from there..
seems really odd that someone would spike a girls drink with MDMA of all substances though, most folk I know what do MDMA wouldn’t do a shitty thing like that, they would rather share it with their friends (well that was the score when I was last raving and it was only a couple of years ago, was only forced to grow up very recently… mind you the way attitudes have changed towards girls/women on the nightlife scene (its worse than when I grew up years ago) I guess this kind of bullshit happens..
but checking bags and stopping party drugs get in (although I wouldn’t want crack to become a party drug) won’t stop bad things like this happenign if anyone going thinks its OK, you can search bags but not minds..
I used to help organise legal and also unlicensed events a few years back but have come to the conclusion that folk in England don’t know how to behave properly in large groups and even organisers slip up, as creamfields was a washout and its not rocket science to know that up North it still rains in summer..
