Is there any evidence that an adult having consensual sex with a teenager results in harm of any kind? I can’t find any.

For example many states in the USA have an age of consent of 18. However many European nations have an age of consent of 14 (Italy, Germany, Portugal, Austria) – do these nations condone child abuse? I doubt it.

Another idiosyncrasy is that once of age (i.e. 18 in California) no one can object to an exploitative sexual relationship. A 40 year old man can have sex with this young adult, who has little experience of life, and even degrade them in pornographic films. Meanwhile a 20 year old will be arrested and labelled a ‘pedophile’ for having a loving relationship with a 15 year old girl.

In fact it could even be argued that adults having sex with prepubescents isn’t necessarily harmful, although I don’t want to discuss that here.

Can anyone here justify the age of consent being what it is? Can anyone here provide evidence that sex before a certain age is harmful?

Well obviously the consent age is there because the point of child protection is that they are to young to make their own decisions. Which is why we give them rules like ‘don’t have sex yet’ Of course its fucking harmful to their development to have it when they are too immature. Most kids don’t mature till they are about 19 – 20.
If you don’t have a set in stone law what are people going to say 14 is old enough…then 13…12??

exactly. because of scum like him trying to infliltrate the dance music scene in my area and preying on sex workers, the whole nightlife scene got investigated, judged and nearly every underground music event and venue is shut down or can’t get a license/venue. No fucking way are people like that welcome here. Worse still, chaps like me who are a bit older, single and have younger friends are also viewed suspicously even if they have decent values and integrity but there was so much rum stuff going on in my region I can’t even blame the feds/social services etc.

Anyway the age of consent was as young as 12 in many countries including England at one point but that was because people didn’t live long and many young women died in childbirth so families arranged marriages.

once couples were married they were expected to produce a lot of kids like they still do in Asian countries (which was for the same reasons).

That in Europe we can give children/young people more of a childhood today isn’t something to be wished away by selfish creepy old men.

what was worse is the way it was done, which may well have involved hacking a innocent persons computer. there are many forum admins who would simply send all theuser details and IP straight to the feds.

Also what he says is a very simplistic interpretation of European law, same as the bullshit ideas some folk from elsewhere have got in their heads that drugs are legal in Europe and our cops don’t care.. those nations where age of consent is lower often have stricter rules about protecting teens. Some Southern European nations do not, and sadly there they do appear to have serious problems with gender equality, but lack the resources to do anything about it (this is a vicious circle). Similarly the USA seems to lack protection for women – whilst there is nothing stopping me having a relationship with a woman where there is a large age difference but within the age of consent, it would be a serious criminal offence for me to be abusive to my partner whatever her age was.

But I don’t see any good reason to follow the examples of backward countries/cultures. That said, feeding a nonces genitals to stray dogs isn’t on either, there are laws against animal cruelty too and one is that all animals are entitled to reasonable quality food.. 😉
