all the serious stuff aside, it definitely was better 15 years ago

8000 people all dancing in front of one rig? would never happen now

its more likely 10 rigs with 30 people in front of each one

to be fair Eastern parties all have one stack and I’ve seen about 1000 or so at the bigger events – its SE England’s crews what can afford so much kit they can balkanise the crowd into various factions depending on the music style..

I’ve not seen many multiriggers in East Anglia and those what have happened in recent times were done by SE England crews running away from the zero tolerance policies they brought on themselves in their own ends..

there is a slim chance that a crew of younger people (16-21 or so) without significant drug problems or involvement in crime would be able to put on decent events, but they would have to overdeliver on any promises they made to wider society, make some compromises such as using TENS/getting permission to party places, and also stay together and as friends during all the boring/stressful bits (this being the most difficult)

are you planning on staying in EA as you reach your late teens/20s or going up to University in another area? (this is something to consider as a lot of crews are split due to this happening amongst their people)

as for the first paragraph, im prepared for that. 🙂

as for the second paragraph, if i could make a difference on the scene, i wouldnt bother with uni. if i go to uni, it will probably be in london… but if the possibility of contributing to the scene arises, im willing to not do uni and put my time and effort into this instead…

got some pretty awesome friends too who could endure the stressfull waters

by the time you are 18/19 they might have actually finished building University Campus Suffolk (or whatever it chooses to call itself today) :laugh_at:

would you give up uni for free parties?

i dunno, i’d go to uni and put on free parties there, but i wouldnt stay around the same place because of parties rather than do a course what i really wanna do

see above, we do have uni here as well and its not just B.Sc in Advanced Livestock Management (although Otley college is good for that sort of thing)

also it depends on what normal job Josh is going to do; and it makes sense to go where the work is. Round here people will always need stuff fixed/built, as well as anything to do with boats/the sea or learning about practical stuff to do with renewable energy…

yup, id give it up… i dont see how id be able to attend uni and make an amount of impact on the scene – they both have a large appetite for time. after all, your going to uni to get a better job to enjoy life more, instead im going to try and boost free parties to enjoy life more for myself and many others

dude if you can get this then go for it, I know a fair few people at Adastral Park and its also quite a liberal work regime considering its BT. this is also a very good way of learning about the same technology you need for sound engineering…

awesome – cheers for the input! I wanna do it even more now lol 😀

hmmm… it depends where you go to uni of course

im going to uni because it’s a neccesety to do what i want to do, but not so i get a job that “pays more” or anything, that doesnt motivate me or agree with my ideals at all

also york/hull has had enough of me and i’ve had enough of hull/york, and i’ve done two years working full-time in a monotomous dead-end job for the bit of cash so you can get fucked off your face every night you get off, and to be honest it’s fucking shit and soul-destroying, im looking forward to 2 years having fun again

as it turns out you say your looking for an apprencticeship, i was being hypothetical rather than assumptious.

thats a good point i guess … well on that note i hope all goes well 🙂

as for the last paragraph… im looking at uni and an apprenticeship, but i think apprenticeship would be more suited to me, not really sure yet..

I was forced into uni when I would have done much better with an apprenticeship but they had been discouraged in the 1980s (its only been since the late 90s they were reintroduced)

I think for those what enjoy making something useful happen rather than learning abstract concepts for a later date that proper work-based apprenticeships are much more valuable..

Follow your dreams mate, I wish i had, started working at 16 and gone from one job to another boring ass job. Bit ironic really when i was growing up i really wanted to be a cop. Even now i wonder and think if i had stuck at it would i be a policeofficer now! Would love to be one but my current lifestyle wouldn’t allow it! :laugh_at:

I’m not suggesting Cliffy does this but I know of at least three people what have quit raves and joined the Police…

Tbh i couldn’t do it now. Too much red tape for my liking. Plus I’d probably be corrupt so best not to go down that road.
