Basically i dropped my lap top tonight and now have an inch long line along the screen where all text is indeciferable, can i get this fixed at the it depatment or do i nedd to get a new lap top? (the line on the screen has a 3mm part that is a moving zig zag line) please could all replys be at leat an inch away from the edge of the posting screen. Thanx from owain:crazy_diz
Got a few pics to give an idea of the problem. There are lines across the screen as well, but they only appear/are noticeable, on the desktop. so far there seems to be no problem with the running of the computer thoughraaa
I dunno much bout laptops but i know they are lcd screens, if youve damaged the liquid crystals inside (which it looks like you have) it is irrepearable-u will need a new screen… they can just replace the screen, just depends how common a lappy it is and how easy to get a spare..
By the way it does look fuckin cool, the one on your desktop, looks like the black hole:weee:
Sorry:you_crazy
Hes right, no repair unfortunatly. Your just gonna have to live with it :hopeless:
It aint tooo bad though, could have been worse!
there are a couple of places in Yatelely and West London which do repairs of this nature, but its usually a few hundred quid for an LCD replacement.
As a workaround I’d check for anyone who’se got a spare CRT monitor which can be plugged into the machine..
I did this to mine. I looked in to it and it’s fairly straight forward ro replace your screen yourself as long as you feel competent with computer parts and basic electronics. This will no doubt void the warranty though (if you have one).
If you can find out what the model number of the LCD screen is then you can look for a replacement on computer parts websites.
I managed to find one that matched the spec exactly but wasn’t the official screen so it came cheaper despite stating that the quality was the same.
As it happened I just used my home contents insurance to cover it but this meant I had to send it away rather than fix it myself and I stil had to pay the first £100.
If you get it replaced by a shop then expect it to be about £300
If you can do it yourself then it might be around £200
Sorry to hear it mate. At least you can still see yours, mine was tattered!
Many thanx guys will have a look about for new screens. Got a mate in IT so maybe he will be able to get me a new lid on the cheap. BTW its a toshiba.
unlucky m8. i reckon you’d be better than
for stuff like that, ive seen his
soldering skillz! hope you can
read this!
:laugh_at:
Might not even need solder, depending on the type of screen. Might just be click together connections.
