try it with no password
i had the same problem a few weeks ago
or try password
yay! i’d already tried what you said, but i tried it with some different login names and it worked!
thank fuck.
im off to read up on networks before i stick my oar in again…
if anyone has any suggestions where to start learning about networks i’d be grateful.
How are you networking it USE? peer to peer or server client? will there be a gateway or a router or what?
fuck knows. ive got a shitty old desktop which has loads of files, but the cd writer gave up years ago. i got a crossover cable and stuck it in both of them. ive sorted my xplaptop for connectivity, but i cant work it out in 2000. if that makes sense. i can see the desktop from the laptop’s network places, but it wont let me in. im thinking it might be cos teh old desktop was on a mate of mines network for abit, and might be still set up for that….
have you shared the folders you are trying to access on the win2000 machine? if you havent that will be your problem most likely.
hmm. i connected to my other desktop that runs xp fine.its just getting 2000 to acknowledge xp thats a prob. i have no shared docs there and i cant get it to notice the laptop, even tho the laptop notices it.
bollox to it. i bought a 2gb memory stick instead. cheap as quite expensive chips on dabs. at leats i got the xp machines networked. i’ve got somewhere to stash crap off my lappy. all is well.
