video of one of the nuclear plants, looks horrible :hopeless:

youtube comment says its Daiichi nuclear plant

turns out that the earthquake actually moved the earth 133 degrees off its axis, not sure if anyone else has posted this…

Japanese Earthquake Likely Moved The Earth?s Axis – International Business Times

thats quite alot! fuck my lemon, 133* degrees….blimey

50 workers are atm working in the reactors….some of them will give their lives so we might not get a total meltdown….They shall never be forgotten! nor shall the victims of the tsunami, they made me remember how fragile we, the humans are, when we stand against the forces of nature….

Poor animals, this clip makes me sad. I hope after filming this they actually helped these dogs. I know there’s bigger fish to fry but personally I couldn’t leave those dogs there.

The people taking the pics were some sort of rescue corps. they have recovered both dogs and taken them to the vets to be looked after.

There was another film (I think on BBC) and it appears that the shelters accept any pet animals brought in by the local families. What was more remarkable is that all the dogs and cats were staying with their family group and not misbehaving or fighting each other…

Yeah found out just now, found the translation as well:

“We are in Arahama area. Looks like there is a dog. There is a dog. He looks tired and dirty. He must have been caught in the tsunami. He looks very dirty.

He has a collar. He must be someone’s pet. He has a silver collar. He is shaking. He seems very afraid.

Oh, there is another dog. I wonder if he is dead.

    Where?

Right there. There is another dog right next to the one sitting down. He is not moving. I wonder. I wonder if he is alright.

    The dog is protecting him.

Yes. He is protecting the dog. That is why he did not want us to approach them. He was trying to keep us at bay.

I can’t watch this. This is a very difficult to watch.

Oh. Look. He is moving. He is alive. I am so happy to see that he is alive.

    Yes! Yes! He is alive.

He looks to be weakened. We need to them to be rescued soon. We really want them rescued soon.

    Oh good. He’s getting up.

It is amazing how they survived the tremendous earthquake and tsunami. It’s just amazing that they survived through this all.”

It’s terrible mate. Mother Nature at her worst. :hopeless:

Check this site out. Could be what parts of Japan will be like in years to come if they don’t get a handle on this situation.

this is a real cartoon from the children’s TV in Japan (their equivalent of CBeebies I guess)

If the crisis at Fukushima can be explained away as a giant fart I hate to think how they illustrate Hiroshima to their kids.

I think Japanese kids are only taught about the war in the last junior school years or early high school years, same as us in the West – there’s no point in making small children frightened or depressed about something what happened nearly 7 decades ago.

However an immediate nuclear emergency needs to be explained to all ages – at the very least many will want to know why their family is evacuated, or why their favourite foods will be hard to find.

Perhaps one day CBeebies and BBC East will have to do something similar when Sizewell goes tits up… (I’ve already checked the exclusion zone though and have already planned for it, it would be more a annoyance than a disaster)
