Man you guys get the best climbing tat.
I was all set up to buy myslef my own set of ascenders and a nice harness and stuff for site til I realised how expensive it all is.
My old tree house could only be gotten to with ascenders and people kept using the site pair and leaving them attached to ropes half way up a tree, so I’d need to use climbing tapes (usually just poly-prop tied to work like tapes) up to get them or I couldn’t get to bed.
As for the heights thing I get what you mean I don’t like heights but I feel perfectly safe as high up as I can get in a tree. I duno why….whats even more stupid is I prefer climbing without a harness. I spent most of the time working on my new house hanging onto the tree with my legs and tying knots with my hands until I had a nice platform to work from. I feel far safer knowing my life is in my hands rather than the hands of some dodgy old tree surgeons harness donated to site years ago. I just trust my abilities when it comes to climbing, plus when evictions come no one will be wearing a harness so its good practice.
