the bit about the bathroom door appears in every European language. I sometimes joke with Dutch people who are often curious about why I decided to learn Dutch “it is because its easier than Japanese or Chinese” but there is some truth in this as their tendency to be “short and to the point” means auto translating from an Asian language to NL (and also DK) can be more accurate!

in EN and DE an even more surreal reference to a bear follows :laugh_at:

being menaced by a bear can be a problem in some parts of Japan although folk have recently learned how to co-exist peacefully with them (as they now do in Malaysia); maybe music does calm them down (seems to also work in mountainous bits of Europe too :laugh_at:)

BTW I think what has happened is he refers to opening one of the sliders on the DX7, the Japanese for this is likely the same as the description of a sliding latch widely encountered on a door for the WC worldwide.

On a MIDI keyboard this may (or may not) send a CC code but even if it does it is not guaranteed the mapping is going to be the same across all the equipment; he explains that the nintendo does not follow this control code, in DK and NL the subtitles say ‘it does not go along’ but Google in EN and DE somehow introduce the bear (which is why it is still worth learning languages rather than relying on auto translate…)
