I would say i have given my argument very clearly …. JSA is for people who aren’t working BUT ARE LOOKING FOR WORK. Not for people to get some money when they don’t want to get a job.
I’m struggling to see his intelligent argument. His arguments are all about stereotyping. Once we got past that issue and started talking about people who are definately committing benefit fraud, he has nothing. Check through this whole 5 page thread if you don’t believe me!
We agree on the issue about benefit fraud.
Beyond that, someone has to satisfy a particular set of criteria to be eligable for dole, this is both when they apply and on an ongoing basis (as I understand it). If someone can prove that they satisfy this criteria (i.e. as to legal entitlement), they have fulfilled their obligation to society and do not have to offer any further justification and certainly not offer any apology to ignorant working class people who will simply try to demean someone based on their socio-economic status.
The question about why someone doesn’t want a job relates to not wanting a maccies type job (although god bless the people who do that). Maybe some people find this just too soul detroying.
Beyond that, people who are long-term employed are quite often excluded from job opportunities, simply because they are unemployed (i.e. we are essentially talking about discrimination on the basis of socio-economic status or ‘social exclusion’). It is societies all purpose rhetoric propounded by working class bigots that produces this collective judgement that such a person is worthless. By the same token, the work place environment is full of double standards and hypocrasy. This is why some people end up thinking fuk the sytem.
As I said above, I can see lots of sides to this. There is no black and white, only 360 shades of grey..
So you wonder why some people end up

bull shit. If they fulfill that criteria by lying they should be ashamed of themselves. Obviously in most circumstances people who lie dont come on a forum and tell me. I don’t judge people if they are unemployed and would never assume they are just avoiding getting a job. Thats one of the reasons i hate people claiming wrongfully. They give genuine job seekers a bad name.

Thats life! If they find it too soul destroying fine, don’t do it, but then dont claim job seekers! If it actually destroys your soul, claim incapacity!
societies all purpose rhetoric – do you get paid every time you use that phrase?

I see that you are an argumentative sort, but in this case, there are far too many swings and roundabouts to give any clear cut stylized answer.
Let’s change the subject.

You are entitled to your opinion, it is a free country. But I do not think you are right.
I think we can only progress this discussion with some input from the person who wrote this post.
