Hi,
I’m doing my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University College London (UCL), and my thesis is investigating the effects of ketamine on mental processing and personal experiences. I have been given permission by the administrators of ‘partyvibe’ to post messages to see if any one would like to take part in the study. Before I continue, I would like to apologise in advance for any offence that may be caused by using your forum in this way. I also want to emphasise that this study is not being run by drug/pharmaceutical companies.
I am looking for people to participate who fall into either of these two groups:
1. Ketamine users (as well as other drugs) who use ketamine at least twice/month, for at least 1yr
2. Other drug users (EXcluding ketamine use) using drugs at least twice/month, for at least 1yr
The study takes about 1.5 – 2 hours, and comprises computer based tasks, as well as some pen and paper questionnaires, a drug history and a urine sample. (Participants will not be given drugs at the time of testing.) Your confidentiality will be assured.
In exchange for your time you will be paid £15.
Ideally, the study will take place at University College London (off Tottenham Court Road). However, if necessary I can meet people elsewhere. Testing can take place at pretty much anytime – week days and evenings, and weekends.
If you are interested and would like to know more please let me know, either on this forum or through a private message.
Thank you for reading.

Hi,
Yes, when I have the results and have worked out what they mean I will let people know! But I’ll only have results if people want to take part – so to see results, get involved!
Justin
😥 😥 Thats to bad..But I dont take drugs anyway,so I would be useless to you anyway..
But the coffee are still free if you change your mind 😉
No free ketamine I’m afraid, but you can do what you want with the 15 pounds!
Gosh, what a quiet response! Does anyone have any advice about which other sites I can try?
Thanks,
Justin
TBH I think this is understandable. Despite your assurances a lot of people will be cagey or frightened not so much of the authorities but by the fact that the results or the experience may not be what they want to hear (i.e it is showing them that the use of drugs may actually be adversely affecting their lives).
People walk away from bad news and potentially unpleasant experiences a lot of the time.
I am sure the test is done by fairly friendly and ethical people; and is not a competitive exam or something that could get you in trouble but even I would find it a bit intimidating and I am by no means a regular K user. That said if I still lived in London I would probably do the test.
I think your research is a very good idea but I can also see why people are resistant. many would think whatever results you find they will still be spun and used to justify prohibition and the nanny state
.
I take it you have tried the obvious places to put up flyers asking for test subjects like student union bars, drop in centres etc or even around facilities of the UCL teaching hospital?
only £15? 😉 im in edinburgh.. would of been interested in taking part aswel…
15 pounds in weight of K. Right I’m on my way to the smoke NOW!:groucho:
i took part in a similar study a couple of years ago… i was paid £50 for talking to someone for about an hour, and he came to meet me (about 200 miles from London)… and he bought me a pint
perhaps you could find a better funding source?
frankly, i don’t think £15 isn’t going to encourage anyone, even i they live in London, by the time you catch the tube and have spent time doing the test…
