this actually happened to a best friend of mine in the 1990s but the drug was heroin. I simply stopped hanging around with him and his mates because of the drugs/crime aspect, and he knew full well why I had done it.

we didn’t actually fall out – I bumped into him on occasions over the years and we had a chat and he was always battling his addiction, 90% there but the last 10% eluded him. I met him again today I’d still say hello but now I am 200 miles away.

Also lost other friends not so much because of drugs but ego clashes, they wanted to be in control and when they lost the slightest bit of control would sabotage any collective projects a wider group of friends were involved in. TBH that has actually happened a few times with various people and is why I am now very cynical about intentional communities etc.

I suspect that this is a far wider issue than just drugs. but K doesn’t help because it gives people the feeling they are the centre of everything and the world literally revolves around them (I know because I used to be fond of the stuff myself despite hating it for some years)

I tend to give people three chances then “forget” about them (of course you always remember the good times) but I don’t let people drag me down any more.

this is true .. but the point i was making was that it’s slightly ignorant to say that all drugs are eqauly as bad … be them illigal or not .. every drug does some thing diferant to you .. some are worce then others .. you cant just wright one drug off as being “as bad as all the others” because depending on what drug you are talking about, the damaging effects will be less/more than the next drug

Exactly. Every drug is different, and each person will react differently to different things.
