I still think its a lot to do with individuals personality and a change in the vibe at raves rather than drugs alone…
I know people who do K and are always laughing and smiling….
but there are also incidents of people being pilled up and having a proper fight (there are even people in my city who take pills before going on a townie binge drinking bout and then look for people to fight!). On the drugs forum about a year ago I relayed a story about a lad who was on pills encountered some scrote who had given his little sister hassle, the (pilled up) lad just went straight up to the other guy and stabbed him to death in the middle of the street!
IMO K isn’t an ideal party substance – but it is here to stay as a result of prohibition and the binge/polydrug culture where people do more and more of anything. It can be taken in quantity without immediate major health problems (although they eventually do catch up with users); and as it is not yet classified the risk (if you get caught by authorities) against reward for users and dealers is far better than “real” illegal substances.
Raves have changed, and particularly in cities [not just London, look at the manchester board for instance] the original vibe has been contaminated by negative influences from wider society. In many places the scenes a bit more agressive and competitive these days and people are less friendly.
A few years ago no one would have dreamed of throwing hot liquids at one another at a rave, whether they were on drugs or not.
the trick is to find the right parties, and the right people – that way it may not matter what drugs you do; or even if you do them at all!
