from really nasty chemicals such as methylamine or propylamine – corrosive, poisonous and liable to go kaboom at the slightest spark or flame. the whole synthesis is online on various sites, but the stuff is still listed on most countries national formularies (their list of approved drugs for doctors/hospitals) so there is no need for people to make it clandestinely (unlike for instance MDMA which is rarely made by legit pharmaceutical organisations). and anyone capable of using those sorts of chemicals and with the brains not to blow themselves up is more likely going to be making MDMA or research chemicals anyway…
