  • This film is the only thing that makes me wanna fight. I mean it does look really glamorous and fun if kicking someone in could be done with such dignity singing ‘singing in the rain’… I hate fighting..

Well, look on it this way. LOSING in a fight is no fun at all.

WINNING in a fight, while it might feel good, can make you out to be a bully.

Me, I tend to play, not offence or defence, but counter offence. If I’m offended and have a fair chance of winning an encounter, I’ll stand up for myself.

If I have absolutely zero chance of winning, then I might have to fight anyway just to survive – sometimes if you don’t let the inner animal go, the real bullies will just keep hitting you and stomping you until you are dead.

It’s a very, very difficult one to call… but having a “set strategy” isn’t a good plan. Nowadays I tend to call each situation as it develops, because my behaviour will influence at least 50% of the outcome.

Polski’s said to me that kurwa is like how we say fuck.. they didn’t actually say it meant fuck but they said it’s like how we say oh fuck, never really bothered to translate it as i guess when we say fuck, piss, shit the meaning really has no relevance in the sentence it’s just an expression really isn’t it.

it is like how French say “putain!” (whore) for the same reason…

a lot of the UK grime/urban music culture is clearly inspired by this kind of imagery. It was after all a very good movie. Even a lot of my DJ / MC friends are really careful about what they play and self censor their music lists so there aren’t so many gunshots or references to fighting in tunes/lyrics, especially as this isn’t the days of queensbury rules any more. People often fight to kill one another, and round here they did that even when there was death penalty or today when (unless feds step in) reprisal/revenge attacks are common. As 20 years prison or the death doesn’t matter when your own life is shit, your enemy is still dead and their family have to mourn them.
