Which state (if it is safe for you to post this in public) and what is the main denomination of Christianity practised there?

There are still European regions (especially bits of Germany and Sweden and even the liberal Netherlands) where these strong religious views are commonplace – although what I’ve read about religion in USA (I had thought the entire country was completely full with extreme yeeha Southern Protestants of the sort the UK and Europe was wholly glad to rid of with after the Reformation) Christianity is thankfully a bit more diverse in modern times (though half the Catholics still haven’t implemented Vatican II reforms from 1969).

It seems that even a lot of the Baptist Protestants (possibly influenced by Anglicans and Lutherans from Europe) do now at least believe in the concept of forgiveness of minor sins.

Consider that Prince most likely became a Jehovas Witness to try and get away from the booze/prescription drugs culture which is rife in MN amongst the Catholics and Lutherans – I think he may possibly have had a Lutheran upbnnging as they enjoy music [and booze!] as much as Catholics and do not consider either to be sinful.

There may be some other annoyances like having driving llicenses suspended (obviously much more of a hassle in a big car dependent nation like the USA) it is possible your partner might have to attend some faith-based rehab but otherwise drugs penalties especially for middle class white people are moving closer towards those of Europe (i.e a caution/infraction/small fine).

Worldwide even the harsh Asian and Middle East countries have mostly stopped the death penalty for this level of posession unless they are currently in a state of actual civil war.

IE, NL and DE all have Bible Belts too; nowadays often shared between the more conservative Catholics and Protestants (actually Christians everywhere else in Europe than UK/NI stopped fighting amongst themselves about their own religion a century or more ago).

Unfortunately a lot of these folk are well off and own family run businesses that employ half the town/village so have political power (in modern Germany they even vote with the Jews and Muslims to keep stuff like the Tanzverbot (dancing prohibition) ) – although not surprisingly these types are ageing and their own families leaving the areas in droves so they eventually end up in the senior homes and these areas depopulate.

There are even elderly folk in some areas of NL who refuse the 10% legit medical cannabis approved by the Dutch Health Ministry because they think it is sinful.

With modernist Catholics (those who accept Vatican II reforms) pot dealers/users are more likely to be kept out of trouble provided they handed over 10% of the crop (or any profits from selling it) to the nuns :laugh_at:
