I had a similar urge to check in on PV today, after being away for probably a year. How’s it going Psy? Didn’t realise you were a Hebdener. I grew up there, but haven’t lived there since I was 18 (and I did play in a brass band throughout my childhood!). Chances are I actually do know you if you’re from Hebden.
I’m good thanks, man. How are you doing? I’m not from Hebden though, lol, not sure how you reached that conclusion. I’m a Lancs man, born and bred. Specifically from Preston.
Ah fair enough, I just read GL’s comment about Hebden and assumed it was because you live there. Yeh I’m alright, been in Bristol for the last few years, but only really there half the time due to touring and doing random jobs abroad.
wow, never realised until now that you are a Northerner by birth!
Coincidentally the pirate station I am currently listening to from Drenthe just played one of the (many) versions of Böhmische Traum, the most popular one on the pirates is from about 35-40 years ago and has the lyrics sung by a Jungen of about 10-12 years, who performed in a duo with his sister.
Presumably the lyrics are directed towards a different Mädel of a similar agegroup :laugh_at:
Wenn ich träum in der Nacht, träum ich immer von dir,
du bist der hellste Stern in dieser schönen Nacht.
Und der Stern sagt zu mir: Ich bleib gerne bei dir,
bis dass der Morgen erwacht.
Dann such ich deine Hand
und es wird mir ganz klar.
Du bist der Stern, der im Morgenrot verschwand,
doch es wär wunderschön bis ans Ende der Zeit mit dir
zu gehn Hand in Hand.
also found this from a printout of a 1950s era radio design handbook (much still valid today but I gave up on it as I had to keep converting loads of stuff to metric…)
Celestions design labs (and the EU compliance tests for GP batteries) are now just down the road from one place I work at…
