  • I should get my mum onto PV. Actually no, that’s a bad idea. She’s encourage-able enough as it is. She went to more festivals than I did last year.

    Hi again

I’ve managed to speak to a fair amount of people and one or two are happy to talk to me about their recreational drug use on camera – but I am happy to talk to people in confidence and anonymously at the moment too as all conversations will help build up the bigger picture. Do you have any suggestions of other forums that might be good to post on?

    gutted :laugh_at:

don’t talk to the older noobs. i am much more superior for the fact that i am just chatting shit

I thought I’d write again with a quick update – I managed to make a taster tape with three participants all talking openly about their recreational drug use a couple of weeks ago. I showed it to the Channel last week and they are really keen to get involved. They’ve given me some funding to continue with my search for potential contributors which is great news.

They are specifically interested in the idea of recreational drug use of people in their late 40’s / 50’s as a hidden part of society – and want to focus more on people who hold down responsible jobs whilst maintaining their hidden lives in the evenings or weekends. I agree – I think it would be great to get a sense that there are many more people out there than most people realise – which is why I need your help! If anyone is interested in talking to me please either private message me here or email fiona.wilson@iwcmedia.co.uk There is the possibility of remaining anonymous within the documentary itself – as I realise that may be the only way people feel comfortable discussing their drug use.

Unfortunately Dad is no longer with us but he did fuckloads of benzos (via NHS but he did manage to divert a few) and raised two kids, bought a family house in a affluent suburb of Reading near South Oxfordshire and worked for a very prominent job in the petrochemical industry – but sadly I think the combined stress of drugs and societies pressures finished him off.

you wiil not yet have security level for PM’s as they require a certain number of posts.

unfortunately the reality is those older folk who have responsible jobs are likely to be in places where their bosses will use overt and covert lifestyle monitoring and they might not want to risk their career. Can’t blame them.

Having the “debate” is good but it works both ways – consider how many shows are either specially for or about Muslims and other ethnic minorities and yet it hasn’t removed racial tension. Whilst media (sometimes) thrives on conflict its not always good for anyone else.

what methods will you be using to anonymise people? stuff like simple frequency inversion / voice mangling or mosaics can be defeated by a variety of means. There are also even former drug users what work withing the private security industry to covertly monitor suspect users in professional jobs and limit their careers.
