whats happend?
i’m part of my college russian club and they won’t take us on a trip there because some bad things have happened on past trips, there’s lots of turmoil in russia, hardly anything is documented but it’s quite a dangerous place.
Hi Harr!et ,
Not saying it is but i reckon most likely terrorist group might be the chechens , theres been war there since the early 90’s . Chechens want their independance , which they did get after the first war after the Russians got badly clobbered . The then head of state dudayev took charge and released all criminals out of jail . Well it decended into chao’s with war lords …..slavery and ethnic cleansing of Russians in the area . Then Russians went back in and now its under Russian control , but there are terrorists still active , leading to beslan …..the school taken hostage and then blown up . The theatre seige were that gas was used that killed alot of people , to various moscow appartment bombings and numerous other attacks .
Its one big mess , but in my eyes the difference between a freedom fighter and a terrorist is……a freedom fighter doesn’t kill innocent civilians . One day i hope shit like this will stop but humans being humans i doubt it !!!!

i agree mungo, chechens seem like the most likely. beslen was awful, i can just about remember that. it gets to me so much, i really don’t know how people can sleep at night. i wonder how that (supposed) “woman” would feel knowing that she has caused children to be left without mothers and fathers and likewise. i’m not actually sure people like that would feel anything but pride over having done something like that, so i’m pretty sure we could define them as evil.
but on the other side of things, in psych i’m studying social psychology and it’s unbelievable how powerful social conformity it.
Milgram experiment – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia < read up on this, i'm not sure what i would do in that situation, i don't think anyone is.
Hi Harr!et ,
They do reckon that the women at the Beslan seige , did have a change of heart and didn’t want to go through with the massacre and where actually killed by the men of the Chechen group . This of course is just guess work as no one really knows the events in total .
The Chechens have been miss treaded by the Russians at various points , Stalin deported the whole populance during WW2 as he thought they would revoult and side with the Germans . However how any one can justify killing of innocent people is beyond me , but then we have not experienced it happen to us .
Beslan was i horrible thing to happen though , and it makes you think how low people can go . To take a life is a big thing but to take the lifes of children is terrible .
Lets hope things like that never happen here …..peace and love 🙂

it’s worrying though.. a few experiments came to the conclusion that people who commit atrocious acts are just regular people (“the banality of evil”) who disengage their moral sense and just follow the order’s they’re given, which kinda implies that we are all capable of atrocities, even though most people would think that they’re certain they aren’t. i’m not sure what’s so difficult about the concept of peace of love.. it’s the only way forward!
planet earth needs more mungos 🙂
Hi Harr!et ,
Thanks the cat with a hat …..although you me and all of us on PV i think is what the world needs …why fight so much more hassel ….when you can talk sort it out and all is well . That experiment you was on about was in Tank Girls thread , i think it was 2/3 of people who gave the lethal electric shock !!!!! ….worrying .
I can understand in war if you was a soldier and you’ve seen mates of yours get killed how you might want revenge . At least thats people with guns shooting people with guns ….kill or be killed i guess . However to take that step further to killing inoccent people i can’t understand . I have heard in my time ” well it was done to me so ill do it to them ” …..that make it right ? and when would it ever end ? .
We need a mass Ecstasy weapon of mass Love to be dropped on the world ….weve heard of shock and ore ….well no its Peace and Love 🙂 .I got me B52 out of the love shack already and fired up just need the Ebomb lol . 🙂

This is truly awful, encouraging kids to use guns, little kids, like they’re playing some game at a fun fair. how can any of them actually believe this is ok!? pffffft
Hi Honeybear ,
Crickey they were paint guns and i have fired air rifles at the fair when i was a kid at balloons …..don’t make me a mad killer . We are lucky in this country as in many other countries those guns would be real and live armed and the kids would be shooting real people . Do you feel the same about archery or for that matter do you turn over the TV when darts is on ? . If you are a parent you have the choice in this country not to take your kids to such events , you might not in many others . I guess i must be a government robot !!!! according to that guy from the video .

There are plenty of peaceful things folk can do in London other than attend a military show..
just about every European nation other than the UK used to make their teenagers do 2 year military national services instead of or as well as college/uni, and where my family originally come from National Service got reintroduced in the last few years for both genders.
the Europeans have only just stopped this, as the enemy was once the Russians! hence the perceived need to protect Europe’s borders but they are now seen as “less of an enemy”…
Hi General Lighting ,
Your right we don’t have to do National service or conscription in this country , and i think rightly so . What does make me angry though is those that mock those that do join the Armed Forces . In the video the guy goes on about the glorious dead and the war memorial , if it wasn’t for our armed forces Hitler cound well have won the war . If ever there was a war that was justified WW2 was it , okay i didn’t agree with Iraq and i think we should pull out of Afghanistan . However the members of the armed forces don’t get to choose which war they fight , no thats the Prime minister and we vote them in .
I think some times some people just want to mock anything in a uniform just because its a uniform . well thats my rant …..all calm now lol 🙂
