So you always hear people say that pills used to be better in the 90’s and acid used to be better in the 60’s? After reading non-biased peoples opinions who’ve actually tried good quality batches of both i’m really starting to believe that nothings actually changed except maybe availability and the amount of the drug in a standard hit.

Was it really much better back in your day or were you just younger and the fun of doing it for the first few times better? Personally i just think the older folk who complain don’t have any good dealers anymore.

the quality of street drugs has always been variable – for the obvious reasons that often feds/douane intercept a large shipment and then middle level dealers need to make up the losses which they do by diluting the end product.

around 2007 the MDMA, LSD and even some pills going around East Anglia was easily as good if not better than anything around in 1991 or 1992, cheaper and much more available. It only went downhill / got replaced by mephedrone because people got so greedy they fucked up and landed up in hospital.

So the NHS fed back this bad news to the territorial police (Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambs, Essex, Beds, Hertspol) via the DAAT (Drug And Alcohol action Team ) this got relayed up the chain to SOCA and so they started targeting party drugs dealers more, even the usually peacable middle class kids who deal a bit to support their partying, but who have a day job, aren’t as much into the criminal side of it and don’t get involved in turf wars and other foolishness.

Ironically its these intelligent youths and their customers who tendended to demand good quality stuff. by scaring these ones away (which is easy to do as they don’t want to totally fuck up their lives with a big criminal record, especially with uni and jobs checking up on peopels pasts), they end up being left with dealers who have got less to lose.

So what is often left over are the wannabe gangsters from the estates (who can be aged anything from their teens to their 40s) – unemployed folk for whom dealing is a career choice. And many don’t care, or even know, if they are selling bunk gear – they simply aren’t interested in “nerdy science”, just making a bit of cash. Their own suppliers higher up the chain are ripping them off. And they don’t want anything to do with acid because its not a regular earner compared to the harder class As.

I also think people who grew up in the 90s, particularly the late 90s, look back on the times fondly because it was a less stressful era in good economic times so the rest of society was happy, and tolerated alternative behaviour more than today, so there was less paranoia in taking drugs…

I can’t compare acid from the 60’s coz I wasn’t around back then. I feel pretty well qualified to speak on MDMA though coz I was certainly eating plenty of it in the 90’s and early 2000’s.

When I first started taking E’s quality was definitely higher than it was now – I can remember paying £15 PER PILL (!) and bear in mind that was almost 20 years ago now so has got to be around £20-25 at least now if you take account of inflation. As the price plummeted, so did the quality. I never had any problem with them containing anything other than MDMA compared to now where it honestly would be a surprise if a pill contained anything other than BZP/TFFMP or some other random research chemical.

So most people moved on to buying MDMA crystal on the basis of it being “purer”. Though I did plenty of this, I always knew deep down that although it was more reliable than pills anyone who used it was kidding themselves if they really thought it was “pure”. After all, we’d often get through a whole gram or more each in a night, I reckon 1000mg of PURE mandy would have you on your back, probs in hospital. Had a great time with it though, don’t get me wrong.

Another reason why I don’t think MDMA is as good as it used to be is that authorities globally have really cracked down on the availibility of precursors, particularly safrole. As manufacturers have been forced to use more and more alternatives, it’s not really any wonder that “it ain’t what it used to be”.

I dont think the acid has changed . LSD 25 is LSD 25. A lot of So Called acid is Lyserglide (party acid) which is easier to handle,
Also the dosage is sometimes not taken into account . IN 1989 the Batman and Joker trips were only 125 mics (Nice with a pill)
Nut nuts were 500 . Which blew your mind !
Also a lot of the black microdots around then were STP not LSD .
so some peoples accounts of their “trips” were not about LSDbut about STP which is stronger and lasts longer

There was indeed purer MDMA widely available in SE England and East Anglia until very recently (2007/2008) and some silly people did precisely that. within the healthcare services the sheer amount of ED admissions eventually has had the effect of turning liberal, non-judgemental people into folk who begrudgingly think “maybe the prohibitionists and Police do have a point after all”..

As for LSD its always been a bit variable but a decent amount taken in good set and setting with good people (and this environment is not always found at a big rave or party unfortunately) will still give you a good time.

The reason old hippys (my parents generation) look so fondly on the 60s is that those who could actually get acid or any kind of drugs but could also self-regulate their use is the survivors (there were a lot of casualties too) are in fact often very intelligent people from middle class background who treated getting high as a special occasion done every few months and didn’t let it interfere too much with normal life, and they used their drug experiences to make their normal lifes better.

I’ve got a lot of friends in that generation. Of course they are often grandparents now with responsible jobs or recently retired and they don’t get high any more due to other responsibilities, but the inspiration that they got from the 60s drove them to do things like invent the stuff what keeps the Internet going today…

What about DIRTY acid . Not processed properly, possibly contaminated,
done it quite a few times years ago .Made you twitch or grind your teeth…. The few trips ive done in last four or five years
have been proper clean

Lots of speculation about this being bullshit or not even lsd at all, after reading many debates recently i swing towards there being no such thing as dirty acid just acid which is a bit more impure than others and you need more. I think dirty acid isn’t acid at all, a few impurities in microgram doses isn’t enough to give bad side effects.

Never had dirty acid – my first trip was in 1991 though so it might have been more common before then. I’m not surprised todays stuff is cleaner though..

I’m not brainy enough for chemistry (flunked it big time in high school) and am more an engineer than a scientist but I have a wider interest in experiments, lab equipment etc and todays stuff is much more advanced and can be linked up to computers and there are lots of very brainy people in foreign lands who know how to use it well..
