next party will definately be on your calender! sorry bout that… were just pulling our internet sketch together!! should be another party of these proportions up here fairly soon….
SATURDAY 14TH FEBRUARY 2005 saw a free party to rival any achievments seen since the dawn of the underground scene. The location was amazing, an old Victorian hospital !!, Manchester’s finest sound systems and hundreds of mad punters/inmates? Knuckled down for 12 hours of trouble free fun. Big up to everyone who made the effort to be there, especially those nutters who travelled from the four corners of this island. We all proved that Manchesters party scene is unique, safe as,and wont be dictated by scallies. It was a special night in many ways- we saw Manchesters newest sound system –OSO- make their first outing (although the crew have been an active part of the scene for almost a year now) theyre gonna be a crew to look out for! We also saw the return of the much missed DAYLITE ROBBERY massive, after a 2 year absence they finally got to rip it up with their new ‘looney bins’ in a looney bin! Pairing up with STRANGEWAYZ crew to build a 15k wall of hiphopjungletek mayhem. The third room was kept pumpin by the sounds of Manchester favourites MONKEY PUZZLE watch this space for more top drawer shenanigans from this crew! The whole evening was kept on a truly surreal tip thanks to the visual pyrotechnics of the showskills posse especially VJ EEFEE who also provided our insane party visuals for Manchester classics such as the Lloyds metal do and the huge one in Trafford park. Big respect also to the NOTMUSIC massive for all their help and support.
All I can say is BIG BIG THANX to everyone involved, without you this scene is nothing- WELL DONE!! We had it in a looney bin! see you at the next one and here’s to a truly phat party year ahead which should include bigger parties with colaborations with Manchesters many other sound systems and hopefully some visits from our allies in London and Bristol!!
WATCH THIS SPACE!!!!

YEHESS! Big thanks to everyone who threw that party, fuckin awesome, it was my first illegal rave, travelled over to manc 4it and boy was it worth it! Respect, lets ave it in sum more wicked venues like that! Went to the last strangeways one in tha big warehouse, but i say its all about massiv disused buildins like hospitals, schools, etc. Cu at the next one! Trouza
The first illigal rave i went to was at the hospital on 12th feb..cudnt believe it, was amazing. Also, sat 30th april saw the hospital revisited with an even better night being had…bloodly brilliant.
The only shit bit bout this sat was the fuckin scally dicks who decided itd be good to beat ppl up and mug them, oh and kick off with the organisers right at the end of the night. Mmmm shame the police had to get invloved…fuckin pricks! Death to all scally tits! 🙂
too rite, me and my mate go our phones taken off us, fucking bastards apparently hit some girl as well! fucking retards didnt evennotice my camera sat on my lap worth 160 when the phone cost me 50 about 2 years ago-loosers! My lesson: manc parties are too big and bigger is not better, here inleeds its free party peeps and people for a good time only, its quality not quantity! Roll on the outdoor ones too, indoor is so nasty and dark-how many tossers start smashn stuff up and end up bleeding evry where? Is it worth it?
hello everyone – I’m normally on the main bit but have been reading the threads on manchester partiies with some interest – I’ve never actually been to Manchester! Sad to hear though that scallies picked up on these parties so quickly and caused trouble…
theres unfortunately always an element of angry fucked up people in big cities – violence is routine at London free parties and even in provincial areas the vandalism got to a point where the cops just busted half of our crews with riot police and confiscated the rigs, now everyone is up before court for the harsher penalty of entertainment wihout a license and destruction orders have been put on the rigs, it just seems this is being done as a reprisal because of the damage to the buildings.
the venues in manchester are obviously a good building so its sad when this happens; but its a problem you have to deal with right away. Down south and particularly in London people ignored the problems for too long as “it was only a minority” and now they have got to the stage where most indoor free parties in London have security and even then there is still trouble
the problem with big buildings is unless you have peopel who are prepared to squat the building and actually live in it (so that you know the building in side out) they are very hard to keep people safe in, either from scallies or physical hazards. And TBH it would be a VERY brave person who stays several nights in somewhere like a disused mental asylum or any medical type facility, particularly with the dark things that happen there (there’s a good story I have about this which I will post to the main board one day).
the problem is as soon as a city venue gets known scallies (or chavs/townies as we call them down south) often look for prey. you either need to keep moving to be one step ahead, or if possible choose outdoor venues (I’m sure you do get summer even north of Watford :D) , but even then you need to be on your guard.
but don’t let the vandalism and trouble get out of hand or the dibble will get more on your case, particularly when the casualties start presenting to the local Emergency Department in drugged up states and the paramedics get paranoid…
interested to know (as I have never been to a Northern rave) how GMP dealt with the rave – did they nick the scallies and let you carry on, or just shut the rave down, or do fuck all?
I have been to many free parties in different european countries, never ever have I seen anything like what I saw in Manchester. it was a shock.
I think a lot of this can be prevented by not advertising free parties, especially not on the internet.
