  • Hey there!

I am 30 and have only lived in London a couple of years and looking to meet new people to go clubbing with.

I have reached that stage of where my friends are not into that type of music(wouldnt be seen dead in one of those places) lol and are into mainstream £$^$$ or are hooked up, married with kids etc, when i do get the chance my friends end up leaving early and end up being on my own but then i end up meeting fun and intersting people!

When i get chance i like to go to Fabric and go to ADE festival in Amsterdam i went in October it was awesome!

yeah mate i like to do my own thing a lot of the time cus im quite young alot of the people i know want to be doing the ‘coolest thing’ or wherever the majority want to go,, fuck it go to some nights that you want to good to either with a good friend or two, or on your own. you will have a great time and be sure to meet some like minded people who you can get to know and link up with .. dont feel bad going anywhere on your own, if anything i prefer it sometimes

Its not that abnormal for slightly older people to go clubbing/partying on their own in London, due to the solitary and transient nature of much of the population, though I’ve noticed that a lot of folk stop in their mid 20s rather than their 30s even in the capital. in the provinces a 30-40 year old at some events is judged as as being a bit sad but at others (even in the same venue!) wouldn’t be thought of as odd.

It depends a lot on the maturity of the genre being played (for instance house dates back from the 1980s). If you like trance and house a lot of folk into the music are going to be your age or above anyway.

The ADE event is really interesting on many levels but you will never get something like that in England because NL has two decades of tolerating and co-opting the dance music industry into the mainstream music industry (whilst at the same time cleaning it up) whereas UK still views it as a bit scummy and sketchy and tainted with drugs money. The attitude of AVB and others to encouraging new talent and the more positive reception EDM gets across Holland and North Europe is really refreshing whereas in Britain its a lot more aggressive and competitive. TBH this affects every public entertainment from nightclubs and DJ sets to cat shows – I only realised this when I was comparing the production values of a NL cat show to a UK one for amusement and realised the Dutch even organised these better (a similar UK one I saw was dark, crowded and the cats were clearly more stressed out).

Was impressed that the ID&T boss (who is probably older than both of us) turned down $100 000 000 investment/buyout from the USA (which would have set him and his family up for life converted into Euros and invested in sensible less risky stuff) even though ID&T posted lower revenues this year. That shows the chap is genuinely into it for the music/enjoyment as much as running a business…

I have had of the best nights out ever when i have been on my own and especially meeting like minded people passionate about the music, even going with friends i seem to get lost in the smoking area chatting to people lol.

As for ADE i went to Awakenings at the Gashouder in Amsterdam and the way that event is organised is so so much better than anything i have experienced in the UK and Australia, you buy coupons for your drinks and rip off a tab and get served for a drink straight away which lets you just get on and enjoy the music!

we treat big music events as national emergencies like religious extremists setting off a bomb or a big flood or controversial political march (I am not kidding, this is exactly what the local authorities do!)

Holland just sees them as an extension of the horeca-industries (hotel / restaurant / catering ) and a legitimate and positive things…

I prefer it too with certain things like monthly acid techno nights in edinburgh, i like to go and dance all night with like-minded people and then go home, (am i getting old) It’s my thing, my time to be me, without work or any stress and just live in the moment.
I dont wanna bring a bunch of mates and get drunk & silly.
It’s nice on the odd occasion though so i let them in sometimes 😉

I used the no-one to go with line as the reason for not going to raves or festivals for quite a long time. Eventually I figured I was just making excuses so I plucked up the courage and started going to festivals and underground nights on my own earlier this year. It’s well worth doing mate. I found it pretty daunting at first, and there were times when I felt uncomfortable. But that’s to be expected when you enter unfamiliar territory. It doesn’t really help matters if you can be shy and self-conscious like I am either. But by the end of it, the positives completely outweigh the negatives! I’ve met lots of people, many of whom I’ve stayed in touch with and I feel much better with myself for having done it. Ravers, festival goers are the friendliest people around, there’s no better place to hook up with like minded people. You should totally do it man! raaa

    I LOVE ACID TECHNO

I’m a 35 yr old welsh female recently moved to Gibraltar(the land that time forgot!) and missing my clubbing nights out in the UK. Would be willing to fly into London for the weekend as desperate for a night of dancing with like minded individuals. Loved the whole hardcore scene when I was younger now into more vocal house but would be up for an old skool night. Please contact me I’m perfectly normal!

In the same boat here… Im 28, all my friends are either not into it or now under the thumb. Love my house and trance and looking to get out in London, dance all night and meet new peeps ASAP!

Not a club night, but a few of us on here have tickets for Shambala festival aug 2013 already,
Top festival, more the merrier 🙂

Hi, i totally agree, a lot of my friends are settling down saving for mortages etc blah blah, but i’m in my 30s and would still love to go out say once a month and have a massive night at Fabric or something….any other girls out there interested??
ps – I am very normal too 🙂

Allot of us are going to Stay up forever and hydraulix next month if you are up for it. 30th march.

50 times better then any fabric or MOS event. London underground style.
