  • Hey there,

I have had LSD approx 5-10 times over the years and almost on all occasions there is a feeling a couple of days afterwards of feeling very mentally “drained” or “depleted”. It takes a few more days to return to normal and the severity is usually proportional to how much LSD was taken.

I’d like to hear from anyone that has experienced this and has an opinion on what exactly the cause may be (obviously taking LSD, but more specific in terms of what chemicals are depleted and if there is a way to “boost” yourself nutritionally to counter this)

Some ways I would describe it:

    -It is difficult to think.
    -Easily frustrated/agitated.
    -Poor problem solving skills
-Dulled feeling in the brain. Almost an ache.

    Thanks

hey  and er.. welcome !

lsd requires brain chems to work, such as seratonin… these chemicals regulate many functions of the body, which may cause the things listed… but im guessing as with the case of ecstasy, research has shown (Drugs Live: The Ecstasy Trial – Drugs Live: The Ecstasy Trial – YouTube) that although these chemicals are lost they are soon replenished by the body and no harm is done to the user…

also i get the symptoms you write about just by staying up all night, drugs not included

I think the technical term is called brain fry (Disclaimer: I’m not a doctor though).

I call it “Kentucky Fried Neurons”.

Too much stimulation, the poor buggers just want to be left alone for a bit. Good food, real people, positive vibes, help to alleviate it.

The good news is brain cells regenerate with learning and activity. Suggest you spend a bit of down time in art galleries or just watch the world go by – so much more fresh air than watching a computer screen day in, day out.

There are OTHER causes of mental dullness – too much repitition, too many questions, not enough answers. Not enough learning, not enough stimulation, can give similar results.

Life is a balancing act, between giving and receiving. Anyway, hope you get better after some quality rest time away from the dancefloor. That way you’ll feel more of a pull when your mind is in a happier state. 🙂

Too many questions without answers? Well…there at times, at least for now, where we must be content to love the questions themselves.

That said it’s probably something to do with serotonin. I’ve never experienced these symptoms myself but I’d bet you that’s what it is.

Its pretty unlikely, but, on the off chance, has a zombie eaten your brain recently?

    That might account for it.

All highs are followed by lows, it’s just part of the trade off, anything that hypes up your body and/or mind burns more resources than you usually would and it takes a while to replenish those resources, and chemical imbalances take a while normalise.

Think Ive said before that LSD has the worst comedown and ‘morning after’ feeling of any drug I have tried, like every nerve has been scratched and your brain has shrunk rattling round loose in your head.. part of the reason I stopped taking it.

those symptoms are usually down to sleep deprivation. LSD, infact tripping in general is very very mentally exhausting
