Can this really be true,is money that important in a relationship..
I would rather be poor with a man I love, than rich with someone I don’t..
How about you ??
Money can buy you love – especially if you are a Romeo with savings, new research suggests.
Today’s modern woman favours a prudent partner over a flashy spendthrift, a survey from Yorkshire Building Society found.
Almost two-thirds of female respondents said they would prefer to date a man with no debt.
And just under half said having savings was a desirable quality in a man.
Woman are also keen on men with a good sense for a bargain, according to the report.
A third said they were impressed by men who resist spending on impulse and hunt for a good deal.
Only 4% said they would want to date a man who is always spending and has the latest of everything. And when it came to looking for a long-term partner, the figure dropped to 2%.
In contrast, receiving inexpensive but thoughtful gifts was rated higher than being indulged with lavish presents.
Almost 60% of women responding to the survey said they wanted to date or have a long-term relationship with a man who gave thoughtful but low cost gifts, compared to just 3% who wanted pricey but less personal gestures.
Tanya Jackson, spokeswoman for Yorkshire Building Society, said: “It seems money really can buy you love as today’s singles search for a saving-smart superhero to settle down with.
“We are more likely to be swept off our feet with a thoughtful gift than a flashy gesture.
“Modern romance appears to be more practical, with a savings habit seen as an indication of your success in life, making those who watch the pennies the ones more likely to find long-lasting love.”
According to this report I should have lots of girls after me :laugh_at:
I tend not to buy things on impulse.. I work as a finance manager and am careful these days about spending money – the only major debt I have is a mortgage and a single credit card balance…
Seriously though I can understand what the report is saying as a lot of couples eventually split up due to financial problems – but I think this report is actually more a marketing exercise by the building society, they are trying to get young men to open savings accounts by saying they are more likely to meet a girl because of it… Sex sells, even for boring things like finance.

hahahaha! …..x
After so many drunken asshole boyfriends that I ended up supporting I made a rule for myself that I would only date men who had a home (Didnt have to own it) and a job. Didnt always work out like that as rules are made to be broken but do have to say that its nice not having to support someone when you are on low income.
