The following headlines were next to each other todays on-line news… OK the lad did do the crime (and deserves a fairly long stretch for ripping off individuals) but you would have thought they would have separated the two headlines before publishing the site 🙂
Boy, 16, in £46,000 eBay con
Victims taunted as youngster’s lifestyle grew ever more opulent.

you gotta laugh… at least its honest, and probably juxtaposed the two on purpose (hope, hope)…
on a slightly darker note (no pun intended), krishnan murphy was interveiwing the head of the peace alliance in britain about gun crime, and he seemed to think that gun crime was a “black youth” problem, and that that was obvious. i would of lamped him, but the dude just mildly stated that the problem was a problem of poor alienated communities, and that because of the way this country’s run, there were a lot of black people in those areas. what a star. krishnan looked like a penis, but i was still surprised to hear that p.o.v from ch4….one day i wont be surprised. i think i’ll cry.
that was me by the way, hello everybody, long time no type. hope you all had a great party season.. what are we gonna do now the rains have come? anyone gotta mansion?

Having worked in the TV industry (incidentally I system tested the kit that would have been used to transmit that show!) I am not in the slightest bit surprised. Do not kid yourself; C4 is no longer an “independent” or “alternative” media outlet. As it is more commercially succesful than ITV the corporates have taken full control.
The media of all kinds (including C4) deliberately set out to encourage conflict in their drama and factual programmes as it makes the content more “interesting” and increases the viewing figures in a commercial market.
C4 has given significant air time to anti-environmentalist programmes, and various other trash (such as reality shows with live domestic violence!)
FYI the media industry has been so heavily downsized as a result of commercial pressures and there are no secure jobs no one with more positive views has the clout any more to challenge someone with more corporate power above them (like a commissioning editor) – if they don’t play the game they don’t get any work.
An even worse example is a recent Granada “wife-swap” programme; where a known racist woman was made to swap with a black family.
What happened was surprising; the racist woman realised black people were OK and everyone became good friends!
Granada Media refused to transmit the episode (despite the pleas of both families) and are believed to have actually destroyed the programme tapes (despite the fact it would have cost thousands to make) – obviously they thought “it was too positive an angle”.
They have even told the families that as they (and the production crews) have been compensated (paid) they have no right to have the show TX’d as it is their (granadas) intellectual property; they can do exactly what they want with it.
ISTR got to the stage where the CRE and Ofcom were investigating them for potential “incitement to racial hatred”!

have a look at “wrong weekends on the wridgeway” if you haven’t already for my reviews of the summer season (and the moot review and video are on the board somewhere).
no mansions but a few warehouses in London so far. Parties haven’t been bad but a bit too much violence (suppose thats just the way London is nowadays – grew up there and it wasn’t exactly paradise but it gets worse by the minute)
