  • maybe people can take the lessons from the darknet and start getting a smarter ground game going to distribute drugs on a scale large enough to illustrate that prohibition is bullshit.

Very true but how many lives were lost or ruined by the prohibition of alcohol in the few years it took to realize that people are gonna do it if they enjoy it regardless of any laws trying to prevent said behaviour.

that was the exact situation in Europe during the late 1990s (especially as at one point we all had GSM phones, modern desktop and portable computers, access to encrypt if needed (though it often was more trouble than it was worth) whilst the Police still had analogue radios (that you could listen in to and were also plagued by intererence) and dumb terminals to 1970s mainframes.

Unfortunately people ignored valid harm reduction advice; whilst MDMA / stimulants and other party drugs are very rarely fatal in OD their excessive use does cause long term problems to both users and societies (one of the worst is bad crashes caused by DUI); but it has had a lasting effect inasmuch that you have to be shifting thousands of £ / € worth of drugs and making it your main income source as well as being mixed up with violence to end up doing any large amount of jail time; the bulk of users and even some low level dealers until recently would just get a formal Caution (these are now being abolished but the new penalty appears to be just a formal requirement to attend rehab).

Although the British NCA is heavily involved in these operations; their head officer openly said to the media that they can no longer stop the use of drugs in Britain He described their rôle as a brute force regulator that limits the total amount that can be consumed every month and/or concentrates resources on those dealers who may also be involved in the traffic of stolen goods, prohibited weapons and kinderporno etc.

However I don’t think a lot of these darknet lot really are the kind of socially aware enlightened drug user found on a site like this; they are more like a clique of young American males who enjoy having money, resources and power over others (for instance the ones who got nicked don’t even seem to be that interested in drugs or partying. and were mostly hoarding the bitcoins). Also the correct and secure use of the software requires a reasonable level of computer knowledge and attention to detail; unortunately the last one conflicts with the modern party drugs culture of instant gratification.

Sadly alcohol doezs far more damage, both financially and with lives lost/ruined than almost all illegal drugs.

yOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT QUINOLINES? About all I know about them is that’s what the subject of the shulgins 3rd book would be based on.

i don’t know shit about quinolines, nor does anyone else.

I think I read that the third book wasn’t based on quinolines fater all but I couldn’t see what it was based on either.

i think shulgin just got tired of psychedelics and moved on to another research focus.

He was due to publish a third book in the … I have known and loved series and also the shulgin index part 2 which was an expanded version of the tryptamine compounds.

yeah a third book in that series would be clutch right about now.

Yeah. Probably the only inconsiderate thing he ever did was snuffing it prior to getting it published but I’m sure there will be more of his research popping up before long.

if ann wants to publish it we’d all read.

Most definitely, especially now most governments have banned or are about to ban the remaining interesting tryptamines and tthe phenethylamins have been totally banned for quite a few years.

yeah it would buy us like a year or two of new legal highs i guess. but also it would do better for the rouge chemists, i read recently about people selling rolls named flatliners in the 1990’s based off of research by David Nichols and yes a few people did flatline and die from using them. we need as big of a bank of potental drugs as possible and i trust shulgin more than any other chemist aside from maybe hoffman

I justv read about that the other day and he also talked about one compound that he was thinking of synthesizing but because it was almost certainly quite toxic he binned the idea and never documented the compound. There’s a pretty good interview with him from a year or 2 ago when he was shutting his lab at perdue and moving elsewhere.
